Prologue

"You guys ready?" Jc yelled from the garage. Joey came walking in with Chris laughing and clutching his sides, shortly behind. "Oh my gosh, Jc. You gotta hear this joke," Chris choked out through his laughter. They both climbed in the Jeep as Jc stared at them from the driver's side. Joey look at him from the passenger side and said in an annoyed tone, "Its not THAT funny."

"You are such a liar!" Chris yelled as he leaned in from the back seat. Jc started the car and turned it around. "Tell it to me then and I guess I'll be the judge," he said as he drove down the driveway of the WEG complex. He pulled onto the street and drove downtown. "Turn on your lights dude," Chris said. "I want you to live to hear the joke." "Oh," Jc said as he reached over a clicked on his headlights. "With the street lights, I didn't even realize they weren't on."

"Tell him the joke Joey," Chris whined.

"Fine! I'll tell him," Joey said. He turned to Jc and retold the joke for the thousandth time that day. "Why do Irish people only put 339 beans in their soup?"

"I don't know. Why?" Jc played along. He heard Chris smother his giggles as Joey finished the joke. "Because if you add one more it would be 2-farty!" Joey finished. Chris busted out laughing and almost fell into the floor board. "That is kinda funny," Jc laughed, "in a corny kinda way."

"Awww...you guys have no sense of humor," Chris proclaimed. "So where are we going? There's like a thousand coffee places downtown."

"This one's my favorite though," Jc said as he pulled into the parking lot of the Coffee Crib. The sign in the front of the parking lot read "KAROKEE NIGHT" in big neon letters. "Turn around, turn around," Joey whispered to Jc.

"KAROKEE NIGHT!" Chris yelled as he bounced in his seat. "Too late," Jc said.

"You dig your own grave," Joey stated as they got out of the car. Chris practically ran into the cafe leaving Jc and Joey in the parking lot. "Do you have the list of what everyone wanted? I forgot," Jc said to Joey.

"Yep, it's in my pocket," Joey said as they entered the cafe. They looked around and finally spotted Chris sitting at a table in the back laughing at a man singing Bob Segar.

"Chris we're just gonna get what we need and get out of here, remember?" Jc stated firmly as if talking to a five year old. "Awww...come on! It's karaoke night!" Chris whined. People around started to stare as he threw his temper tantrum.

"No way! I'm not singing Sheryl Crow with you again Chris," Joey stated as he sat down beside Chris. That's when Jc knew he had lost the battle and sat down in the last empty chair at the table. "Fine, we'll watch a couple of acts and then we'll leave," Jc said.

"Yes mommy," Chris said in an innocent tone. They all laughed as the man on stage finished his (to put it nicely) horrible rendition of the Bob Segar song and walked off stage. Another man came on and tapped the microphone. After it had finished ringing he said, "Sorry about that folks. I know you guys came to sing, but we'll have to take a break and let our paid performers do their job. We'll have a small break then our very own Miss Anna Mitchell will perform for you."

Everyone clapped and cheered. Once the noise quieted down a waitress approached the back table. "Hello guys. My name is Carol. I'll be your sever. What can I get you guys?" Joey reached into his pocket and pulled out the list of items everyone at the WEG complex had requested. "Just get us these," he stated as he handed the list the her.

"No problem," she said as she turned and walked behind the counter. Jc turned to say something to Joey about the way he had ordered his items when he heard someone speak through the microphone.

"So how's everyone tonight?" Everyone clapped and cheered as the young girl pushed a strand of strawberry blonde hair out of her face. "Yeah me too," she said. When the crowd finished laughing at her attempt at a joke, she adjusted the guitar strap on her shoulder and said, "This is one of my favorite songs. It was originally recorded by REM and I hope I don't butcher it too bad. It's called 'Losing My Religion'."

She let the melody flow from her head through to the guitar as the played the short intro to the song. She captured the entire crowds attention, especially three guys sitting in the back, after the first words of the song left her mouth.

Life is bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Jc, Joey, and Chris stared in amazement as she sang. She sent chills down their spines with every word that came out of her mouth.

Every whisper
Of every waking hour I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up

Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

As she finished her song, the crowd erupted in cheers. No one had ever heard a performer sing that well since the cafe had opened. Jc, Chris, and Joey were all on their feet. As they sat back down. Anna Mitchell stood and took her bows. She exited the stage as the next karaoke act walked on.

"Man she was good," Jc said as the waitress walked back up with their orders in a to-go tray.

"There you go. Here's your check, pay at the front and you guys drive safe," she said. Joey look up in confusion. "But I didn't tell you that our orders were to-go." The waitress turned and smiled innocently at Joey. "I get more lists than you think," she said. She turned and walked back behind the counter.

"Ok Chris, we saw a couple of acts," Jc said.
"Well no one could beat her anyways," Chris said as he stood and pushed his chair in. Joey and Jc did the same and walked to the counter. After they had paid and drove back to the WEG complex, it was around 8:30. They walked into the bowling room and set the cups down on the table. Justin, Lance, and Britney were bowling when Jc yelled, Get it while it's hot!"

They all turned around and walked to the table. After they had distributed their orders, they went back to their game of bowling and Chris went on about the cafe. "She was really good man. You should have been there. She even made the drunks shut up."

Everyone laughed shortly at his joke and Lance put in, Was it because she could sing or because she was hot?"
"It's a toss-up. She was both," Joey said as he sipped his coffee.
"What about you Jc? There rambling their asses off this chick and you don't have anything to say? You did SEE her didn't you?" Britney asked. "Duh! Yeah I saw her and what they're saying is nothing but the truth. She was gorgeous and had the voice of an Angel. She put REM to shame."

"Amen to that," Chris said.

"Hey we're finished with this game. You guys wanna get in on the next one?" Justin asked.

"Sure," Chris and Joey said in unison and they set their cups down and stood up from the table. They grabbed shoes from the rack and slid them on.

"What about you?" Lance said as he turned to Jc.

"Nah I think I'll just watch you guys."

As they started their next game of bowling, Jc's mind wandered. After the 5th frame, Britney noticed Jc's scrupled look and walked over to the table.

"What are you wasting precious brain cells over?" she asked.

"Nothing," Jc said without looking up.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

Britney went back to the game and Jc went back to his thoughts. After a few moments Jc whispered to himself, "Amy Michaels....Ashley Michaels......Amy Mitchell.....god what was her name?"

Chapter 1

So long ago, I don't remember when
That's when they say I lost my only friend
Well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease
As I listened through the cemetery trees
I seen the sun comin' up at the funeral at dawn
The long broken arm of human law
Now it always seemed such a waste
She always had a pretty face
So I wondered how she hung around this place

As she sat on the cold, hard concrete, she let the music take control of her. She let the lyrics and the words flow out of her like an open book. People walked by and threw money into her guitar case, which someone had opened without her realizing it. She wasn't there. She was in a place much more peaceful than the real world that most people dreamed about, but never found. She was at peace with herself and the world around her as she sang.

Come on try a little
Nothing is forever
There's got to be something better than
In the middle
But me & Cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight

She finished the final chord on her guitar as the crowd around her clapped. More money was thrown into her guitar case. Maybe it was because the peace she had had transferred to them for a few seconds. Maybe it was because her words truly came from the heart. She smiled as she remembered, and quietly reminded herself, why she was still living. The peace that music gave her was something she liked to share with as many people as she could, even if they didn't listen...

Chapter 2

"No..."
"Yes..."
"NO..."
"YES..."
"NO!"
"YES!"

Justin and JC's voices nearly echoed in the back of the security SUV as Lonnie drove them to the radio station for an interview. "Why can't you guys just compromise and agree to do your own thing for one night," Lance added. Everyone in the SUV knew about Justin and JC's tradition. Whenever they were away from home for long periods of time, they always spent the first day of their return to Orlando together. It was a silly, yet sentimental tradition they had carried on since the Mickey Mouse Club.

"Come on man! It's just one concert and it won't take long. You know it's a good show," Justin whined.

"Yeah I know because I've already seen it twice. I'm canceling my plans with Bobbee. Why can't you cancel yours with Britney?" JC retorted. He was writing his own will by canceling his plans with his girlfriend, Bobbee. He knew she wouldn't be happy, to say the least.

"Because I really wanna go to her concert! It's not often that our tours cross paths. So come hell or high water I'm going..."
"Ok, ok...how about we compromise? You go to the concert and I will go out with Bobbee. After you get done we'll meet up at my place and hang out for a while. Sound fair?"
"Fair enough."
"Ok...about what time should I expect you at the house?"
"Well the concert starts at 6:30," Justin said as he scratched his head in thought. "I would guess around 8:30, give or take a few minutes."
"See now! Was that so hard," Joey said as he slipped off his head phones. He had had his music up as loud as it would go and still heard their bickering. Lonnie looked at them in the rear-view mirror and said, Its Britney and Bobbee. Things are never simple."
"I'm going to ignore that comment Lonnie because your my friend," Justin said, but you know how badly I can kick your butt right?"

Everyone nearly fell into the floorboard in laughter, as Lonnie pulled up to the radio station. Lonnie was nearly twice Justin size and Justin was the most muscular member of the group. They climbed out of the SUV clutching their sides. As they walked into the building, Chris added, You couldn't beat him if someone gave you a shotgun and the first punch."
This made everyone, even Justin, laugh even harder. They made quite a scene as they stumbled into the building and made their way to the on-air booth.

"There you are! It's about time you got here sweetheart!"

Bobbee ran into Jc's arms as he cringed slightly. He couldn't stand pet names, but tolerated them because she used them so often. 'Here goes nothing.' He thought it would be best just to blurt out the bad news instead of beat around the bush. He pulled himself out of her death grip and looked into her eyes. "I promised Justin we would meet up with him after he and Britney got done at her concert."

He got just the reaction he thought he would. She pulled away from him and threw her hands into the air in frustration. "Why? I thought this was supposed to be just us. You and me. No interviews, cameras...or band mates."

"You know about me and Justin's tradition! You have never had a problem with it before."

"That's because it never interfered with our plans. Are you saying you would rather spend time with him and Britney than me?" She threw her fingers through her brown hair as Jc looked at her accusingly.

"You know that's not what I'm saying."

"Well then what exactly are you saying??"

Their voices grew louder and made heads turn as they continued to argue. 'This is going nowhere' Jc thought to himself. Then as he looked around, he noticed all the people staring at them. He was suddenly nervous for some reason, and not to mention, very angry. Then Bobbee interjected, Who do you care more about? Me or your friends?"

Jc leaned and almost whispered when he spoke. He was afraid if he didn't, Justin would have heard him over all the screaming fans at Britney's concert because would have yelled so loud at her. "I'm not going to be put in the position to choose between you and my friends. You won't do that to me. I won't be put that position. So when you get finished pitching your temper tantrum give me a call."

He turned around and stomped out of the hotel. Bobbee stood in her place for several seconds until she finally turned around and walked to the elevator that took her back to her room. After fighting his way out of the revolving glass doors, Jc started walking endlessly down the dark streets of uptown Orlando.

Chapter 3

He didn't feel the slight breeze. Jc was still burning with anger as walked down the streets of Orlando. He looked down at his watch, which read 6:00. "What am I supposed to do for two and a half hours?" he said out loud. While he figured this out, he walked endlessly down the sidewalks.

He passed restaurants, novelty shops, music stores, and just about every other kind of store you could imagine. He saw a young girl with a guitar at her side pulling her jacket on over her and for the first time, he noticed the breeze and shivered. When he came upon the Coffee Crib, a few paces later, he dug in his pockets and realized all he had was a few cents in change. Having left his wallet at his house, he didn't have a credit card to charge any coffee with.

"This just isn't my night," he said out loud and continued to walk until he heard something that made him shiver again. It was a beautiful voice that sent a chill down his spine. He turned to see the young girl playing her guitar and singing as if she was the only person on that street to be heard. She was performing for her most faithful audience of all; her heart.

Jc slowly walked towards her and noticed she had her eyes closed as she sang. She didn't care about the world around her. She let the music take her away. He leaned against the wall and slid down until he was sitting down right beside her. Her voice was peaceful and breathe taking. He calmed himself down and she warmed his heart as she sang.

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees
in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

She slowly opened her eyes as she finished the final chord on her guitar. She saw JC sitting there with his eyes closed and smiled to herself. She turned and faced him. That song never does sound right without a piano, but its still one of my favorite songs.

JC snapped back into reality and opened his eyes. He turned to face her and found her blue eyes staring deep into his. There was something about her eyes he just couldnt read. They were almost...empty. As if she felt no emotion at all. He realized he was staring and finally said, Sarah McLachlan?

Yeah, I dont know though. Maybe I like it because it was one of the first songs I ever learned how to play. Theres something in the message in the lyrics I like though. She looked up at the sky as she spoke. After a very brief moment of silence said with a laugh, I gotta tell you though. Ive had crowds and people compliment me on my singing, but Ive never had anyone almost fall asleep while I was singing. Youre a first for me.

I wouldnt say that I was asleep. I like sorting out my thoughts better. Asleep just sounds so unearthy. I have to say though that youre a first for me too.

Hows that? she asked looking down from the sky and back into JCs eyes. There was so much depth in his eyes that she loved the mystery of them. Ive never had someone sing and put me in a trance before. Thats very hard to do. A lot of times the only time that happens to me is when Im writing.

Well, Ive never actually tried to write my own stuff, so I dont really know how relaxing that can be. As she spoke, she put her guitar into the case. She picked it up and slung the strap over her shoulder. As she stood up she said, Listen, I have to walk somewhere. You welcome to come with me if you want. I could use the company. JC stood up, took her guitar case out of her hands, slung it over his shoulder. I would love to, he said with a smile.

After walking about a mile down the deserted sidewalks, Jc looked down at his watch. "7:00," he groaned to himself. "Huh?" she said as she continued walking endlessly down the street. "Nothing," he said as he kept walking.

They had walked the whole distance in silence. Jc couldn't stand it anymore. "How long have you been playing?"

"Since I was about 11," she said as she looked over at him, but continued her journey. "I can play guitar and bass. When I get enough money, I wanna take some lessons and learn how to play piano." Jc laughed quietly to himself and said, "I can play the piano, I just can't play the guitar."

"Well isn't it a small world! Here we are." She stopped walking at an ally and looked down it for a few seconds. After leaning into the ally to get a better view she said, "She's there. Good." She turned to Jc. "Listen, it's best if you stay here. I some dues I have to pay. I'll be back in a few seconds."

Confused, Jc watched her as she ran down the alley and bent over behind a trash can. It was then that Jc realized that there was some laying on the ground behind the trash can. She started rambling in what sounded like Spanish as the woman on the ground slowly sat up. She reached in her pocket and handed the woman an envelope. The woman said something just as they shared a very heart warming embrace. She stood up and muttered something else in spanish as she waved good-bye to the woman. She turned and walked back to where Jc was standing with her hands in her back pockets.

"Sorry about that," she said as her eyes met Jc's once more. She wiped a strand of her blonde hair out of her face as a thought hit Jc like a brick. Soon after, he formed a plan. "Listen, I'm supposed to meet up with a couple of my friends in an hour and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to my house and..."

"Woh! Woh! Wait a minute...just because you find me on the sidewalk doesn't mean I'm going to..." She stopped in mid sentence to watch Jc double over in laughter. 'God he's cute when he laughs...'

"Let me rephrase that," Jc said as he controlled his laughter. "I'm have a get
together with a couple of my friends and I was wondering if you wanted to come?" She looked at Jc as if trying to see if he was telling the truth. She stared deep into his eyes to try and find her answer. He eyes were deep and showed lots of wisdom, but they also showed a friendliness she couldn't explain. She knew he would never hurt her.

"Ok...I'll go," she said. He smiled and his eyes almost glowed in the darkness.
'Get a hold of yourself...'

Jc held out his hand, and introduced himself. She took his hand and shook it just as he said quitely, "I'm Jc."

"I'm Anna. It's very good to meet you."

Bobbee paced her hotel room and thought about her and Jc's argument. "Ok," she said out loud to herself. "Maybe you were being a little selfish, but I mean come on! You haven't seen the guy in two months and he wants you to hang out with his friends. You deserve better than that Bobbee. You know you do." She plopped down on her bed and buried her hands in her face. She sighed loudly and ran her fingers through her hair. "Then why do I feel like such a heal?" She looked at the clock, which read 7:30. She stood up and grabbed her coat and her keys. "I have to go and talk to him." She walked out of her room not knowing what to expect when she got to Jc's house.

Chapter 4

After the long walk back to Jc's car, which was parked in the hotel parking lot, they were both pretty tired. Jc had a lot of questions running through his head, but he felt like he didn't know her well enough to ask her these questions. They climbed into his Jeep and after a few minutes of fighting the traffic, they were driving down the backroads that lead to Jc's house. There entire car ride had been in silence, yet neither of them were doing all that much complaining. They were both deep in thought.

'Am I going insane? I just met this guy an hour ago. I'm in his car and I'm going to his house? It's official...somebody take me to a mental institute...'

"How many people are going to be there when we get there?"

"Oh it'll just be us when we get there," Jc said, taking his eyes off of the road for a few seconds to glance at her. "My best friend and his girlfriend are coming over in about an hour."

'Oh that's great....alone in a house with this incredibally gorgeous guy that is incredibly sweet and......and why is this a bad thing Anna?'

"I've known this guy since I was a kid," Jc said.

"How'd you two meet?" Anna asked curiously. Jc clammed up. He didn't want to tell her the truth. 'Oh god, what do I say? Umm...we met when we were child prodigies in the Mickey Mouse Club?'

"I guess that wasn't the right question," Anna said as she looked out of her window. "No, no," Jc said,".....let's just say that it was fate. We've been best friends since the day we met and it was fate that we met in the first place."

"Oh ok..."

"What about you? Was that old lady back in the alley one of your friends or is it just a buisness thing?"

"Ummmm.......she's kinda both. I help her out when she's needs help and she does the same for me."

"What do you mean? You mean......money?"

"Ummmm.......yeah. Money."

'There's something she's not telling me. Well Jc you can't say anything because she doesn't know who you are.' "Here we are," Jc said as he pulled into his driveway. Anna sat with her mouth open as she stared at his house. It was a big, two story, white brick house. The gardens all around the front of the house seemed to add on to the houses beauty. Jc stopped the car and pulled the key out of the ignition. He opened his door, but noticed she wasn't moving. "Uh....we're here," he said trying to catch her attention.

She shook her head, slightly embarassed, and reached into the back seat to get her guitar. "You don't mind if I bring this inside do you?" "Not at all. Maybe we can jam later....."

"Excuxe me?"

'Oh shit! Way to go Jc, you just blew your cover.....' "Uhhhh....nothing. Just....nevermind." He shut his car to leave Anna sitting in the passenger side.

'He may be cute, but he is one wierd guy...'
She got out of the car and slung the guitar over her shoulder. She followed the Jc to the house, where he was waiting with the door open. "After you, madam," JC said holding the door open for her. "Why thank you my kind man," Anna replied stepping into the house. Just as Jc was stepping into the house, he heard a car peel out close by. He looked outside, and after not seeing anything, he shrugged and shut the door.

The house was even more beautiful on the inside than it was on the outside. The huge foyer alone took her breath away. "Are you ok?" Jc asked. His hand brushed her shoulder as he took her guitar, causing her to shiver. He sent an electric volt through her entire body that made her jump slightly. "Don't be so jumpy! I told you we're just hanging out with some friends."

"I know, but I just don't normally do this kind of thing."

"Well, I'm special then," Jc said as he started to walk down the hallway. "Come on." Anna followed Jc into a huge kitchen with a set of glass doors that lead to a porch that overlooked the pool in the back yard. "Can I get you anything?" Jc asked as he set her guitar on one of the stools by the island in the middle of the kitchen. "Do you have any orange soda? I'm a freak for that stuff," she said as she sat down at the stool next to her guitar.

Jc opened the refrigerator and revealed a stash of canned orange sodas. "It just so happens that one of my friends is the same way. Here." He handed her a can and grabbed a coke for himself. "My friends should be here in a few," he said as he sat down beside her. She took a sip from her soda and pointed outside. "Do you have a lot of pool parties?"

"Nah...I'm never here." 'GOD JC! Smack yourself or just tell her!'

"God, if this was my house I would never leave. It's gorgeous."

Jc stood up and took her hand. "Let me show you something," he said as he dragged her off of the bar stool. She set her can on the bar and let him lead her down the hall. She couldn't take her eyes off their hands. It just felt so right. He dragged her down the hallway and opened a door to reveal a room that had several instruments in it. Eletric guitars, acoustic guitars, a drum set, a keyboard, an electric drum set, you name it, it was in there.

"Oh my gosh!" She ran over to the electric guitar and examined it from a closer angle. "It's gorgeous." She picked it up and turned it in her hands. "That's a Fender. It's really nice. That's not really what I wanted you to see though," Jc said with a laugh as he took the guitar out of her hands and gently put it back on it's stand. "Close your eyes," he said as he took her hand again. He led her to another door in the room and opened it. He clicked the lights on and said, "Ok, open."

She opened her eyes and cried with excitement. In front of her was a huge white grand piano that nearly took all the space in the small room. She walked over to it and sat down on the chair and ran her fingers across the keys. "I've never seen one more beautiful!" Jc sat down beside her and put his hands on the keys. "It's an antique," he said as he started to play a melody off the top off his head.

It was a pretty song that Anna didn't recognize. Jc had played "This I Promise
You" so many times he had memorized the melody. "It's something a friend of mine wrote," he said as he watched her eyes following his fingers. "It's very pretty," she said. He stopped playing and looked at her. "Why don't you try?"

"Oh I told you, I don't know how."

"Well, you have to learn sometime."

"I just don't know if I can," she said shaking her head. Just then, they heard a feint yell coming from somewhere in the house. "We have arrived-d-id," Justin yelled, quoting the movie "The Pest".

"Saved by the yell," Jc laughed as he stood up from the piano. "Come on, I want you to meet somebody."

He stood and walked to the door and waited for her to follow. She sighed and stood up. 'Please don't hurt me Jc.....don't break my heart....'

Chapter 5

"Hey man," Justin said as Jc walked into the foyer. He walked up to Justin and whispered in his ear, "Don't ask any questions. Just be nice and I'll explain later."

"What?" Justin asked with a confused look on his face. He something moving behind Jc and focused his attention on Anna. She was standing in the doorway of the studio. Justin looked at her as if she was some kind of alien, while Britney pushed passed Jc and stuck her hand out. "Hi! I don't think we've met. I'm Britney," she said as Anna took her hand and they exchanged there greetings. "I'm Anna," she said as she let go of Britney's hand.

Justin gave Jc a strange look, which Jc returned as if to say "don't ask". Justin held his hand out to Anna which she shook as had done with Britney. "Anna," she said. "I'm Justin," he said as he let go of her hand. "Jc can we talk for a second," Justin said.

"Sure," Jc said as he led him into the studio. "You guys just go on in the kitchen. We'll be right there." Britney and Anna turned and walked to the kitchen. Once they were out of the foyer, Justin walked into the studio with Jc almost jogging to keep up with him. Once Jc was in the studio, Justin shut the door behind them and turned to Jc.

"Dude, where's Bobbee?" Justin said in a more confused tone than he meant to. "We had a little fight and..." Jc was interrupted by Justin.

"You guys have a fight and in hour you already have another girl in your house!"

"Sit down, shut up, and let me explain," Jc said as he pointed to the couch in the corner. Justin followed his orders and folded his arms once he sat down on the couch. Jc paced the floor in front of him as the words came spilling out. "I had a fight with Bobbee and I just stormed out of the hotel. I don't even remember what the fight was about. I heard somebody singing and it was amazing! I turned around and I saw her! It's her man!"

Justin thought about that for a second, even more confused than before, and finally blurted out, "What the hell are you talking about?"

"You know the girl that me and Joey and Chris have been telling yall about for the past couple of weeks? The one from the cafe? Well that's her! I just met her on the street! Her name is Anna Mitchell and she is the most talented person I have ever heard, in music, in my life. I mean, God she sent me into a freakin trance! One thing led to another and now I have her at my house and I don't know how it happened and..."

"Woh man, calm down," Justin said as he held out his hands and forced Jc to sit down beside him. "Just see where the night goes. Did you and Bobbee breakup?"

"HECK NO! I said we had a fight I never said we broke up." Jc looked at Justin in shock. "Then what the heck do you have to worry about? You have a girlfriend. You don't have to worry about anything happening between the two of you. Just come on out and hang out with us and we'll see what happens." Justin stood up and patted Jc on the back before leaving him dumbstruck in the studio. Jc sat with his mouth open until he finally muttered to himself. "When did I ever say I liked the girl..."

Justin walked into the kitchen to see Britney and Anna sitting on barstools laughing and talking. He walked up to Britney and wrapped his arms around her. "What haev you girlies been up to while the men where gone?"

"Sure do think a lot of yourself don't you?" Britney said with a laugh.

"You better believe it," Justin said as he leaned in and kissed Britney on the forehead. "For your information," Britney said with a laugh, "we have been talking about JC."

Jc walked into the room and heard this statement. "Oh really," he said as he walk over to the bar and leaned on it with his elbows. "And what was said?"

"That's for us to know and if you're extra nice you might find out," Anna said as she winked at Britney.

"You guys wanna watch a movie?" Justin said.

"Nah," Britney said. "I was thinking you guys might let me and Anna hit the studio for a little while. Do you mind Jc?" The thought of actually having a track done by Anna was enough for him to jump up and down. "Sure, I guess I don't mind."

"Thanks Jace," Britney said as she jumped off the bar stool, leaned in and kiss Jc on the cheek. She grabbed Anna's hand as they ran off to the studio. "If this girl is as good as you say she is, then you need to gold plate this demo tape."

"Forget that! I'm gonna send it off. They'll crap when they hear two things. One: her voice. And two: Britney. It's not every day you hear two of the greatest singers in the world on the same demo tape." They walked into the living and plopped down on the couch. Before turning the tv on Justin added, "I couldn't agree with you more."

Chapter 6

Justin and Jc had gotten into watching The Real World marathon that was on MTV. They didn't realize how much time had gone by until they heard the clock that was sitting on the mantle chime. "Damn! It's 11:00 clock already," Justin shouted as he looked at the clock and then stared down the hallway in the direction of the studio. "Just let them be Justin," Jc said as he turned the channel on the tv. Jc got into watching a cops show while Justin started to get impatient.

Justin was looking down the hall and was first to see Anna and Britney imerge from the studio laughing and joking. "What took you guys so long?" Justin asked as Jc looked away from the tv and stared at the noise making duo. "We were just recording," Anna said with a large smile on her face. Jc had never seen her smile before, but it lit her blue eyes until they seemed like the were almost on fire. To see her so happy made him want to jump into the air and dance a jig. Instead he just stood and acted like he was stretching.

"Justin," Britney said when she walked over and grabbed his hand. As she pulled him off of the couch, she whined, "We have to go. I want us to get up early in the morning so we can go to the mall." Justin groaned at the thought of a day in the mall with all the teenyboppers running up to him. Britney immediately caught his sarcasim as they walked to the door. "Oh wear a diquise you party pooper," she said as she whacked him on the arm. They walked out of the door leaving Anna standing in the hallway and Jc standing by the couch in silence.

"Would you mind giving me a tour of your house? I've been here for three hours and the only rooms I've seen are the kitchen and the studio," Anna said trying to break the nervous tention she felt. Jc walked down a hallway that lead deeper into the hosue and started to show her the multiple rooms in his house. The guest room, the bathrooms, the game room, and finally they were back in the den. "I have one more place to show you," Jc said as he took her hand and lead her to the kitchen. "Jc, I've already seen the kitchen," Anna said with a laugh. Jc dragged her further still, until they reached the double glass doors. Jc opened one and lead her outside to the beautiful pool area. They walked outside and sat down on lawn chairs that faced each other. "God Jc, I don't know how you could ever afford to get a place like this. I can't imagine how much it costs. What do you do anyways?"

I give up, I just flat out give up.... Jc thought.

Jc stood up as quickly as he had sat down and tilted his head towards the house. "Come inside, I want to show you something," he said as he started to walk back into the house. Anna ran to catch up with him. They walked down the same hallway Jc had lead her down when he gave her the tour of the house, except he opened the door to a room they hadn't been inside. It looked like another bedroom except Anna instantly noticed the number of plaques on the walls signifying Nsync's platinum records. She had a puzzled look on her face as she went up to one and examined it closer.

"What are these?" Anna said as she read the small type in the platinum plaque for their debut album. Jc walked to her side and examined the puzzled look on her face. He figured she would know when she saw the name. "You know the group Nsync?" he said making his best attempt to look at her, but ended up looking at the floor. "No, why?" she asked, still examining the plaque. Jc's head shot up from his feet and he looked at her right in the face. "You've never heard of Nsync?" This came as a major shock to Jc. Most of the time whenever he mentioned the name Nsync he was immediately recognized and had to flee the scene. Anna acted like in was the most normal thing in the world not to know what he was talking about.

"Tearin up my heart, I want you back, Bye Bye Bye? You've never heard any of those songs?"

"Nope. Never heard of 'um. They must be pretty big though to have all these albums." Jc was dumbstruck. He didn't know whether to slap her to get the reaction he wanted or to hug her for not knowing who he has. Instead he just stuttered out, "I...well I....it's getting pretty late. Maybe I should just take you home."

Now it was Anna's turn to get tongue tied. "Ummm......well.......I think I'll just walk," she said as she backed out of the room and walked down the hall into the kitchen. Jc ran after her and once he caught up with her, she noticed he was laughing. "Oh......my......god.......that was a good one. You'll walk," he said as he bent over clutching his side. "Come on, I'll take you home." He picked up her guitar off the bar stool, but she reached out and grabbed it. "I said I'll walk home, but thanks for the offer," she said as she turned and headed down the foyer. Jc, once again, ran to catch up with her and caught her just as she was turning the doorknob.

"You can't be serious? It's five miles until you even get a glimse of a street lamp from here! It'll take you all morning!"

"I'm a big girl. I can manage," she said. She opened the door and then closed it in his face. After a few seconds of staring in shock, he opened it again. I'm not gonna let her slip away.....I spent too long looking for her...

"You know, I don't get you!" Jc shouted as he chased her down the driveway. She didn't look back as she walked a steady pace down the driveway. He caught up with her and stood right in front of her to prevent her from going any further. "First you pay off some woman and won't tell me anything about it. Then you come to my house and spend hours in MY studio with my best friend's girlfriend, Britney Spears. And now when I try to be nice and offer to take you home, you blow me off! I have been nothing..."

"I'M HOMELESS JC! I don't have anywhere for you to take me! If you want to drive me back to the Coffee Crib that's fine! But where the hell would I go from there? Huh JC? I have NOWHERE to go!" As the words came spilling out of her mouth she turned and ran her fingers through her hair in aggrevation. She slowly started to cry with embarrassment. Jc sat in his own silence. How could he not have noticed it before? All the signs pointed to it. He felt like hitting himself. "I.....I'm sorry," he managed to push out.

"Don't be. I've lived with it for 8 years of my life. The last thing I need from you is pity, Jc," she said tear-struck as she tried to move past him. He stepped out in front of her again. "I don't pity you, I admire you."

"Yeah right," she said as she tried to step out, but was blocked again by him. "I do. I have no idea what that would feel like. Not knowing where you're going to be the next day. Never knowing what you're going to do for a meal..."

"I have a job, Jc. I just don't have a house. I pay for what I need. Unfortunately the Coffee Crib doesn't pay part-time artists enough to rent an apartment in this stupid town," she said. "So please Jc, I'm sorry for ruining your evening and blocking up your studio for what it's worth."

"I'm not letting you leave."

"You don't have a choice," Anna said as she tried to get past Jc, but wasn't fast enough. He moved out in front of her and put his hands on her shoulders. "Listen to me and listen carefully. I don't care that you are homeless. I wouldn't have cared if you lived in Buckingham Palace! Until five seconds ago I didn't know that you were any different from me and my friends in there. After seeing what talent you have, and getting to know YOU, I can't let you go back to the streets. I have to go out of town tomorrow, but until then I insist that you stay in my guest bedroom." Anna started to cry again, as she choked out the words, "No....Jc. I can't. I don't want you to have me in your house because you pity me...I don't want things to be like that..."

Jc thumped Anna on the head and turned her back towards the house. He guided her back to the house as she rubbed her forehead. "What was that for?" she asked.

"To get it through your thick skull that I'm not doing this because I pity you." They reached Jc's front door and Anna stopped him from pushing her any further to look him straight in the eyes. "Then why are you doing this?" she asked.

Jc looked into her eyes and for the first time, read her emotions. He could see her filled with happiness as he looked at her and said, "Because you deserve better."

"You're kidding right," Justin said to Britney as they pulled into Justin's driveway. "Nope...one hundred percent serious. The girl's got talent. And to think that she so bad off..."

"Why do you think she didn't tell Jc?" Justin said as he put the car in park and took the keys out of the ignition. They both got out of the car and Britney yawned as they walked up the porch steps. "I have no clue. Probably because she didn't want Jc to look at her as the poor homeless musician."

Justin opened the door to hear the phone ringing. Britney ran down the hall as Justin took off his coat and set his keys on the table in the foyer. Britney walked back into the foyer and handed Justin the cordless phone. "Hello?" Justin asked as he walked down the hall and into the den. He plopped down onto the couch as he finally heard Jc speak on the other line.

"Justin? I need you to do me a HUGE favor," Jc said in a hushed voice, as if he didn't want someone to hear. "Man, it's late," Justin whined. "Can it wait til tomorrow?" he asked as he kicked off his shoes.

"Yeah you can do it tomorrow. Just get Britney in on it alright?"

"Ok.....what do you need?"

"I need you to make a few arrangements for me...."

Chapter 7

Anna walk into the kitchen rubbing her eyes. She took a deep breath to take in the aroma and sat down on one of the bar stools. Jc turns around from the stove and laughs. "Good morning, Sleeping Beauty," he said. He turned back to the pancakes on the stove. He gave them one last flip and put them on a plate. He carried the plate over to the bar and set it down in front of her. "Hungry?"

"My Prince Charming," she said as she grabbed a fork. He handed her the butter and syrup as he turned back to the stove and started frying some eggs for his own breakfast. She buttered her pancakes and took a bite. "Thank you," she managed to choke out. "Eat up. You have precisely," he looked at his watch and then added, "two hours to get ready."

"For what?" she grunted through a mouth full of pancakes. "Now that," Jc said after battling with his eggs in the frying pan, "is a suprise."

"Jc....I have to work......so whatever you have planned will have to wait," she said forcing more pancakes in her mouth. Jc laughed slightly as he finally got his eggs on to a plate. He walked over to the bar and sat down beside her. "You need to give me a little bit more credit than that, now," Jc said as he cut his eggs.

"What do you mean by that?" Anna said as she smiled slyly.

"You need to trust me a little bit more than that. Your boss, Lou, is a nice guy, you know..." Anna dropped her fork on her plate and stared accusingly at him. He knew she was looking at him, but he tried not to laugh or look up as he ate. "What did you do?" she said.

"You got the day off," Jc said with a slight smile.

"JC! I have to work! I need the money and..."

"Relax. It's with pay..." Anna stared at him in shock. "How did you manage that?" she asked as she picked up her fork and begin to eat again. "Let's just say, Lou's daughter is a *Nsync fan..."

"You're evil," Anna said with a smile and punched him in the arm.

"The devil himself," he said as he unfolded the newspaper. "Did you sleep?"

"Like a baby," she said. "Do you have anything to drink?"

"Look in the 'frige. I ain't sure," he said, without looking away from the paper. Anna got up and looked in the refrigerator. After a few minutes of silent debate, her thoughts were intterupted by the doorbell. "I'll get it," Jc said as he jumped off of his bar stool and ran to the foyer.

'He just get's wierder and wierder....'

When he came back into the kitchen, he was right behind Britney, who bounded in and stole Jc's seat. "Hey! You gonna go and get ready?" she said to Anna as Jc moved his plate to the seat beside her.

"I haven't told her about it yet," he said as he stuffed his mouth with food and went back to his newspaper.

"Aww...you left me to suprise her! Thanks Jc!" Britney turned back to Anna and said, " Shopping!"

"What?" Anna said as Britney bounced in her chair.

"I got Justin out of shopping and I want you to go with me!" Anna thought about this and was a little excited. She hadn't been "shopping" since she was ten. Then the word she hated more than anything in the world popped into her mind. Money.

"I'd love to Britney, but I just don't have the money," Anna said in a truly disappointed tone.

"We've got you covered. This is on me and Jc," she said as she pointed at JC.

"How much are we talking about here?" she directed her question more to Jc than to Britney. He looked up from his now empty plate. "Whatever you want, get it. Like she said. It's on us," he said as he stood up and carried his and Anna's plates to the sink. "Oh you guys, I can't..." she started to say.

"No excuses," Britney said. She grabbed Anna's hand and dragged her off of the stool and down the hall. Jc heard Anna whine all the way down the hall, "Not so fast! I just ate..." Jc laughed to himself. The phone rang, so Jc stood up again and walked over to the phone. The caller id read the name of some hotel. Jc immediately recognized it as the hotel Bobbee had been staying at.

'I don't feel like hearing her right now....I'll let the machine get it....' He walked back into the kitchen as the machine clicks on. "Wassup? It's Jc's house alright....I just AIN'T here right now. MAYBE if you leave a message, I'll think about calling you back....depends on my mood." After a long beep, he heard Bobbee's voice and immediately thanked himself for not answering the phone.

"Jc....oh wait.....sorry, I didn't mean to break into your schedule of pimping. I forget your SO busy. Forgive me please...anyways. I'll cut to the chase. It's over JC."

Jc spit his coffee all over the kitchen and coughed as he heard her continue. "I figured you would at least wait a few days before getting any action, but the night we have a fight. Wow. I thought I meant more than that. It's alright though. I don't know who she is, but I hope you two are happy together. I might see you in the future for an interview or something, but until then, see you later Jc..."

Jc stood in the kitchen with his jaw hung open. 'Her?? What the hell is she talking about?' He thought for a few more minutes as it all came together. 'She was watching. She saw Anna come into the house with me last night and must have gotten the wrong idea. God, the car peeling out! Why didn't I realize it before!' Jc sat down on the couch in the living room with his head in his hands. He wasn't so much sad, as he was worried.

"We're gone Jc," he heard Britney yell. "Meet you in at 5:30." He heard the front door open and close. He sat back and picked up the phone. "What's gonna stop me now, huh, Justin?" he said out loud as he dialed his best friend's number to ask him for advice. "Ain't nothing keeping me away now..."

Britney and Anna sat down at a table in the food court to eat their lunch. "Come on, Britney! I figured you would tell me," Anna said after she took a bite from her pizza. Britney took a sip of her coke and set her bags down at her feet. "Well, you ain't gettin nothing! Jc wants this to be a suprise and it will be!" she said as she sat down across from her. They ate in silence for a few minutes before Anna kicked her bags and said, "How am I ever going to pay you and Jc back? This is nice stuff Britney."

"Oh don't worry about it, it ain't like it'll hurt his banking account," she said as she took the final bite of her pizza.

"Back up just a minute....you said HIS banking account. I thought this was from both of you guys," Anna said as she looked through her clothes. She was feeling guilty already and they had only gone to three stores.

"I'm gonna pay him half in cash. Besides, he wants you to look good for tonight," she said with an evil grin. Anna looked up at her with a menacing look. "Listen here Miss teen queen. If you're not gonna tell me, then you just shouldn't say anything." Britney laughed as she examined Anna going through her bags. She looked at her in every aspect and realized what potential she had to be a beauty queen.

"Have you dyed your hair blonde?" she said. Anna looked up and closed all of her bags.

"Yeah. Some drunk at the cafe paid me $100 bucks to. He said I would be a good looking blonde."

"What's your natural color?"

"Well I have brown hair, but it had a little blonde in it."

"Let me give you a make over!" Anna shot Britney a look.

"Come on Brit."

"Listen, do you wanna look good tonight? Just give me complete and total trust and let me do whatever I want and I promise you will be a fox when I get done with you. PLEASE!??!?!?!?!?" After knowing she had already lost the battle, Anna gave in.

"Just don't screw me up alright," she said as she tossed a french fry at her.

"Boy, this is gonna be fun. And trust me...you won't regret it."

Chapter 8

"Come on out, Anna! We have to get going! Jc wanted us....uh....there at 5:30," Britney said as she looked at her watch. She heard Anna laughing from inside the bathroom. "You almost said where we were going! Way to keep a secret, Brit."

"Just shut up and get your cute butt out here," Britney said after she placed her hands on her hips. "I wanna see if all my hard work paid off."

"Alright, alright. But you have to promise not to laugh if it looks bad."

"You won't look bad." From inside the bathroom, Anna sighed as she looked in the mirror. She had to admit, she had never looked like THIS before, but she was afraid that it wasn't going to be a change for the better. She sighed one more time and opened the bathroom door. Britney's jaw dropped to the floor. Anna walked out of the bathroom and twirled in a circle. "So stylist Britney, what do you think of your final results?" Anna said in a kind of worried tone.

"Girl," Britney said shaking her head. "I'm not sure I want you near Justin. He might start looking at you and not at me."

"You really think it looks ok?" Anna said as she stared at herself in the mirror in the hall. Britney grabbed her purse off the couch and they walked to the door. "Of course I mean it! You look really good, Anna."

"Thanks Britney," Anna said as she walked outside into the driveway. Britney locked the door to JC's house and said, quietly, so that Anna couldn't hear. "Jc won't have a doubt in his mind when he sees her."

"Thanks again for coming out, Johnny," Jc said as he shook his friends hand. The rest of the group sat around on the couches. Chris and Joey were playing some nintendo game and Lance and Justin were in conversation with Johnny and JC. Without looking away from the nintendo, Chris added, "So who is she anyways? What makes her so special?"

"I don't think you've heard of her before. She's some cafe singer named Anna Mitchell," Jc said. Joey and Chris dropped their controllers in shock at the mention of that all too familiar name.

"You mean it's...," Joey said, but was interrupted by Justin.

"Yes. It's her. Just act like you don't know her when she and Britney get here. She doesn't know what's going on."

"I hope she's as good as you say she is JC," Johnny said.

"OH trust me. She is," Chris said after picking up his controller again. Jc leaned in towards Justin, while Lance and Johnny went on about something else. Justin took the hint and leaned in closer so that Jc wouldn't be heard. "We need to talk later, ok?" Jc asked. "I tried to call you this morning, but there's wasn't any answer. It's really important."

"Can you not say it now?" Justin asked. He hated suprises and really didn't want to wait for whatever important news he had.

"No, I don't want anyone else to hear. I'll just tell you later."

"Just don't be nervous, ok? It's just Jc and a couple of his and my friends," Britney said as she drove through traffic to a huge arena.

"Where are we Britney?" Anna asked while surveying her surroundings.

"I guess you could say it's 'The Warehouse'." She said she pulled her convertible beetle into the back parking lot in the back of the TD Warehouse Arena, next to the tour buses. They got out of the car and walked up to the back entrance. When Anna saw the large sercurity guards at the door, she drew back a little. "Uhh....Britney?"

"Hey Lonnie! Hey Rob!" Britney said waving at the two guards.

"Hello Miss Britney, and how was your day?" Lonnie asked.

"I'll let you know when it's over. It ain't even started yet," she said as she grabbed Anna's hand and pulled her into the backstage area of the arena. Anna was pulled dumbstruck through half of the arena. They reached a room label the Toy Room and Britney stopped at the door. She turned and checked Anna's hair one more time. Anna leaned back to avoid her and said, "Good gosh Britney! You're more nervous than I am!"

"If you only new," Britney said. "If you only knew."

Jc and Justin saw the door open and both stood up. Justin walked to meet Britney
in a tight embrace. Jc stood and stared. It definetly wasn't the same girl standing with Britney that had spent the night at his house last night.

Anna's once dirty blonde and brown rooted hair was now back to it's natural brown color. It looked like, from far away, that she had subtle red highlights here and there. He looked down at her outfit and his jaw almost dropped. He had never noticed how fit she was. She was wearing a pair of very low cut denim jeans that had self made holes in them and a baby blue halter top that made her eyes almost scream.

He shook his head after he realized he was staring and walked over to her. He hugged her and said in a horse whisper, "You look....you look...."

"Thanks, JC," Anna said as she pulled out of his hug and looked at everyone around her. "Are you gonna introdue me or do I need to do the honors?"

"Oh right," Jc said as he turned to all of his friends. He pointed to each person as he said their names, "Chris, Joey, Lance, and Johnny, this is Anna." Chris's jaw nearly hit the ground as Joey whispered out of the corner of his mouth to him, "That can't be her." Chris just nodded and responded, "We'll see."

JC lead Anna over to the couch and sat her down beside Johnny. He sat down and watched Justin and Britney sit on the floor together. Anna got his attention as she bounced up and down. "So what's goin on? Can you tell me yet?" she asked as Jc slowly began to smile. "As I said before, Anna, this is Johnny Wright, our manager, Jc said as he moved out of the way so that Anna could see Johnny.

"Hi," Johnny said as he held out his hand. Anna took his hand and shook it firmly. "I told him you sang and I told him how good you were. He said he would take a look at you for me," Jc said as thought about getting tape. He really needed something to hold everyone's jaw up as Anna's fell.

"Run that by me one more time," Anna said as she held on to Johnny's hand. Johnny laughed and said, "It means I want you to sing for me." Anna's eyes instantly lit up. "Now? Here? In front of eveyone? I don't have a guitar," Anna said as she finally let go of his hand. Jc walked over to the corner and picked up a guitar. He walked back over to Anna and said, "You're lucky that we have a band."

Anna took the guitar and tuned it to her liking. She strummed the first few chords on her song and then stopped. "Listen I normally sing everyday, and I haven't today. So if I suck..."

"Not possible," JC said with a grin. She smiled at him and went back to the guitar. A few seconds of playing and she stopped. Looking directly at Jc she pointed and said, "I will sooo kill you for this."

"QUIT STALLING AND JUST PLAY," Jc said as he laughed silently. Anna sighed and started to play the song that she played when she met Jc. He immediatley recognized the melody and sat down on the other side of her. She sang and a huge smile came over his face, when he saw Johnny smiling. 'You got it....just keep going...'

In the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
.

She stopped the song short and looked up to see the entire room clapping and some of the guys whistling. Johnny felt like giving her a standing ovation. Anna looked at Jc and saw him smiling and clapping with the rest. Chris leaned towards Joey and through all of the noise said, "Yep. That's her alright." The clapping slowly died down after Anna had turned red in the face. Johnny stood and shook her hand.

"I will definetly see what I can do," he said before turning to Jc and the rest of the guys. "You guys have a good show. You'll be hearing from me Anna."

He stood and walked outside the toy room as Anna bounced in her seat. "What does that mean? Do you think he liked it?"

"If he didn't then I think he's loosing his musical touch and his hearing," Justin said as he stood up from the floor. "Come on you guys we got sound check in a few minutes." Jc stood up with the rest of the guys, then said in an almost planned voice, "I'll be there in a second." After the guys and Britney had left the room, Jc took Anna's hands and started to drag her off of the couch. "Come on, you got to have your suprise." She set the guitar down and let Jc drag her up a flight of steps outside the toy room. 'Could this day get any better?'

He dragged her up a the stairs and down a narrow hallway with doors all around. "Umm.....Jc where........" Before she could finish, Jc opened a door and took her into it. It was a box that overlooked the entire arena. He sat her down on one of the chairs near the glass windows, then knealed down in front of her. "Next time you see me, I'll be down there," Jc said as he pointed to the arena. "Johnny should be up here a few minutes. If things go my way then there's one more suprise under way."

Chapter 9

With that, he stood up and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. Anna stared at the door for a few seconds before turning around. She stared out the window and watched as the band on stage warmed up their instruments. They laughed and joked around as Justin and Lance walked out on stage. They started joking around with the other members of the band. Jc was the only absent from the stage. Just then she heard a knock on the door. "Come in," she said as she turned around. Johnny walked into the room and sat down in the chair that was right beside her.

"Are you excited?" he asked he watched the guys play around below them.

"About what?" Anna asked without taking her eyes off of Jc as he ran on stage. Johnny laughed at her and said loudly, "Opening for them! I figured you would be excited!" Anna whipped her head in shock and stared at Johnny. The grin vanished from his face when his saw she actually had no idea what he was talking about. "Run that one by me one more time??"

"Did Jc not tell you? I went to work it out with the band. You're going to be Nsync's opening act!" Johnny said with excitement. Anna stared at him opening and closing her mouth. Before her antics drove him insane Johnny spoke up. "Say something. Do something," he said.

"SAY SOMETHING? I didn't even know this was a concert! I didn't know why I was here, I didn't know this was their concert, and now I'm going to be opening for them!!! I don't know whether to run down their and smack the crap out of Jc or kiss him! I just.....oh god. What song will I do?"

"You need to come with me so that you can work that out with the band. Maybe you can do one of your own songs and just play the guitar without the rest of the band." They stood up and began to walk back downstairs. "I think that you should just make it a solo performance, you know? No band or back up. Just get out there with a guitar and a microphone and sing. That's all the audience needs to see." They walked down the stairway and through a hall that led to the stage. When they reached the stage, Anna saw Jc and Justin dancing around like idiots and laughing. She shook her head.

They walked onstage and made everyone turn their heads. Jc walked up to Johnny and although he already knew the answer, he asked, "So...what's the verdict?"

"We'll work her in tonight and see how it goes," Johnny said while he laughed at the hidden grin on Jc's face. Jc smiled and looked at Anna. She pointed to him, and shook her head. "And we need to talk," she demanded, reaching out towards him. She grabbed his shirt and dragged him backstage. To her suprise, he wasn't objecting to her controlling him. She opened the door to the nearest closet and threw him in.

"What?" he said. He tried to play like he wasn't enjoying himself, but he wasn't doing a very good job. She reached out and wrapped her arms around him. She lingered in his arms for a few seconds before pulling away from the embrace to look him in the eyes. "What was that for?" Jc asked.

"I just wanted to thank you in private for everything you've done. I'm not sure why you've done all of this for me, but it's been a blast. I'm actually gonna miss you when you leave," she said. Jc could tell that she truly meant it, which made him smile.

"Well actually I wanted to talk to you about that," he said without looking at her.

"We can talk later! I have to go work with the band," she yelled as she left the closet. Jc sighed and followed her. "She's a handful," he said to himself as he walked down the short hallway. When he reached the stage, he saw her conversing with the band. "No...I've never heard that song. Do you guys know any others?" she said shaking her head. He stopped a few feet behind her to listen to her conversation. "Well why don't you just do a song you wrote? That's probably the best thing to do," the drummer said.

"Maybe because I've never written my own songs before," she said, slightly embarassed. Jc walked up to her and whispered in her ear from behind. "Sarah McLachan." She turned and looked at him as he was backing away from her with a confident grin on his face. "Trust me," he said as he turned and walked over to the other guys who were working with their choreographers.

"I'll tell you what," she said, turning back to the band. "Just get me a guitar and a microphone and I'll be fine. I don't need you guys to play anything for me." The band nodded their heads and went back to tuning their instruments. She turned and watched the group dance.

There was no doubt that they were incredibly talented. Each guy had his own style when he danced and they were fun to watch. She watched Jc as he concentrated on his dance moves. It was to some song she had never heard, more than likely one of theirs, but she liked it. She tried to listen to the words, but the little boom-box wasn't powerful enough to reach her ears from that far away.

After they had gone through a few songs, one of the choreographers that they called Wade told them to file backstage. It was about an hour and half until the opening acts had to go onstage and they had to start letting the fans get into the arena. When they were walking backstage, Anna caught up with Jc and put her arm over his shoulder. "Let's hope you guys sing as well as you dance," she said. He looked over at her and stared into her blue eyes. Ignoring her comment, he said, "Are you nervous?"

"Me? Never," she said with a grin. He brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face and looked back in the direction they were walking. She looked up at him with a grin and thought to herself. 'I don't know what life will throw at me next Jc. But I'm enjoying the ride so far...'

Chapter 10

Anna peeked from behind the curtain and smiled when she saw the huge crowd. Jc laughed at her from behind and hit her playfully on the arm. "Aren't you nervous? I'm mean that is a pretty big crowd," he said as she stared out of the curtain. She closed the curtain and returned his punch on the arm. "The more the merrier. I don't concentrate as hard when there's a big crowd," she said.

A stage manager ran up to them and taped the guitar hanging from Anna's shoulder to get her attention. "You're on in five minutes," he said as he bolted back down the hallway. Anna sighed as she looked back out in the crowd. She had to admit, she was a little nervous. She turned back to Jc and asked, "I'm I going to be announced, or do I just walk out when they tell me too?"

Jc thought about this for a moment. "Good question. I'll be right back," he said as he bolted down the hallway. She stood there alone and waited for him to come back. After a few mintues, the stage manager ran back up to her and said, "Two minutes," before he bolted down the hall again. She started to get jumpy as she looked down the hall. 'Where are you Jc?' She couldn't stand the thought of going onstage without him there. The stage manager yelled from the end of the hall, "One minute!"

'Come on Jc!' She played with the strap on her shoulder in frustration. Just then she saw the lights come on from underneath the curtain and the crowd erupted in ear-shattering screams. She sighed, and got ready to walk on stage. Just then she heard a voice in the speakers all around the stadium. "Hey Orlando! How you feeling?"

Anna smiled to herself as her tention lifted instantly. 'Jc. What else can you do to make my life easier.....'

The voice continued, "Well we have a special guest that's gonna lend us a hand and open the show tonight. I want you guys to give some love to the new coming artist, Anna Mitchell!" Anna broke through the curtain as Jc walked towards her. As they passed each other, Anna yelled over the crowd, "New coming artist?"

"We'll see," he yelled as he walked through the break in the curtain. She walked to the front of the stage and sat on the stool that had been placed there for her. "Hey Orlando, how you feelin?" She heard the crowd erupt in screams. "I'm gonna keep it short so you guys can see the real show! I'm doing song that I heard when I was young, and well....here it is, and I hope you like it."
She opened the song with a few chords on her guitar. She sang into the microphone and didn't hear the crowd instantly hush.

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

She finished the all too familiar song and heard the crowd erupt in cheers and screams. She stood up and took her bows before turning around and walking offstage. When she passed through the curtain, she was nearly pummled by Jc, who ran at her and hugged her until he had lifted her off the ground. "You were awesome!" he yelled as he set her back down on the ground. She blushed slightly at his compliment and almost said, "Thanks." Jc's mood changed immediately from excitement to urgency so fast Anna didn't have time to notice the change.

"Listen we have to talk...."

"Nice get up," Anna interupted as she picked at one of the neon patches on his puppet vest. "Do you have a little hat to go with it?"

"Actually I do," he said, which made her laugh. "But seriously...we HAVE to talk." She detected the seriousness in his tone and immediately stopped smiling.

"What's wrong?" Jc shook his head.

"Nothing! It's just....well......"

"Spit it out, Jc."

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you this part before. The only reason I'm in town is because the tour passed through. I have to leave with the rest of the guys the second we get off stage."

"You're leaving?" It was amazing how close two people could grow close over a short period of time. Jc could tell she was upset by this news. So he blurted out the next part of his news quickly.

"We want you to come with us. Johnny said that you can open for us every night and stay on our bus. When we stay in hotels, he'll pay for a seperate hotel room for you. Britney already drove back to my house to get your clothes incase you said yes, not that that should pressure you..."

Anna stared at him with a look of shock on her face. She tried to let it soak in when the stage manager ran over to Jc and said, "Come on, Jc. Ten minutes. We got to get your harness on."

"Ok," Jc said to the stage manager. He turned back to Anna and took her hand. "Just think about it while we perform. Ok?" She nodded her head as Jc ran off with the stage manager. She stood in her own silence until Jc was out of sight down the hall. She leaned up against the wall and slid down until she was sitting on the floor. 'How has my life gotten so weird in the past few days???' After a few more minutes on contimplating Jc's comment, she heard music. She stood up and ran down the hall, leaving her guitar sitting on the ground. Not paying attention to where she was going, she ran into Johnny and nearly knocked him over.

"Woh! Where are you going to in such a hurry?" he asked. She breathed heavly and finally got out the words, "I'm going........to miss.........the concert."

"Oh....here, I'll show you the way back to the VIP box." The walked quickly back up the stairs and opened the door to the VIP box. She noticed that there wasn't anyone on the stage as she looked through the glass window. She sat down, in the chair she had been sitting in when she found out she was opening the show, as Johnny shut the door and left her in the room alone.

After a few minutes of darkness, the lights came back on and she saw Lance on stage. He said as few words as the rest of the guys filed back onstage. She immediatly picked Jc out of the group. Lance told the crowd that they would be singing a song called "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You" and the crowd immediately cheered even louder, if that was possible.

Lance stopped speaking and all of the guys filed in front of a group of microphones set up on the front of the stage. Justin, who was in front, started the first verse, letting the crowd sing some of the words with him. They broke into the chorus doing a few hand motions with the words. After they finished the chorus, they switched microphones, which put Jc in the front. Anna listened to Jc as he sang. His voice was mesmorizing. It was the most natural thing in the world for him to do. You could tell just by listening to him, that he loved what he was doing. You could also tell by the crowds cheers, that they liked to watch five guys living their dreams.

Chapter 11

"Thank you Orlando! You've been great," Justin said as they all held up their hands, forming thier final pose. As the lights dimmed, the fivesome turned and ran through the small curtain behind the band. Jc noticed a guitar sitting on the ground beside the curtain, and bent to pick it up, while the rest of the group rushed past him. He realized that it was the guitar Anna had used when she played that night. He slung it over his shoulder and ran to catch up with everyone else down the hall. They ran to the toy room and took off their costumes. After he had changed, Jc realized that Anna was no where to be found. He paniced.

"Hey did you guys see Anna?" he asked as the guys changed.

"I was clearing that hall so fast, Jc I really didn't look," Joey said after he pulled a shirt over his head. "How many times do we have to tell you? If she comes, she comes," Justin said as he walked out of the room.

"She'll be there man," Chris said as he followed Justin. The rest of the guys slowly filed out the door and ran to the bus. Jc was afraid of leaving her behind, but he knew he couldn't take the chance of being ambushed by fans waiting in the parking lot. He turned and followed the guys to the bus. He stopped and confronted Lonnie, who was standing at the bus's door, keeping the fans away. "Did you see her get on the bus?"

"No man I didn't see her," he said. "But you need to get on so we can get goin." Jc sighed and started to climb on the bus, but turned around when he heard someone calling his name. He saw someone running towards the bus carrying bags.

"Britney? Is she comin?" he asked as he stepped back off the bus. She handed him Anna'a bags and said, "It wasn't my job to keep up with her, that was Johnny's job. My job was to get her bags, and that's what I did. Tell the guys I said bye and tell Justin I said I love him. I half to go catch my own bus." She gave Jc a quick hug and ran back into the parking lot. Jc carried Anna's bags onto the bus and set them down when he saw Johnny sitting at the table that was right beside the entrance. Johnny stood when he saw Jc and sighed. "Well, now that everyone is back on the bus I think I'll hit the road."

"Is she here?" Jc said, without trying to hide the anticipation in his voice. Johnny
smiled and walked off the bus. He didn't have to say anything. Jc knew what his smile meant. He ran through the bunk room and opened the door that led to the lounge area. What he saw made him smile.

Joey and Chris were laughing and joking while Lance watched tv. Anna was laughing at Justin as he entertained her. She saw Jc and stood up. She walked to the door where he was standing and hugged him. "You didn't think I would miss the ride, did you? You're crazy. I had to see what the road was like with five weirdos." Jc laughed and pulled out of her embrace.

"Are you sure? Any ride with us might be a bumpy one," Jc said as he sat down with Anna. She smiled and looked around at the four guys sitting around her. She smiled at their antics. Chris and Joey were now playing a video game and Justin and Lance were in a deep discussion of that night's performance. When her eyes wandered back to Jc's, she realized he had been staring at her the whole time. There was something about him that was mysterious and she was determined to figure it out.

"I think this'll be something new for everyone. How do you think they'll handle it?" she asked gesturing back at the men around her. "Just don't bother them in the morning and you'll be ok," Jc said.

"I'll keep that in mind," she said, with a laugh.

No one had noticed that Justin and Lance's conversation had slowly drifted to Anna and Jc. "He's got a girlfriend man," Justin said to Lance in frustration. "He wouldn't cheat."

"You can't look at them and tell me that they haven't clicked. They've immediately became best friends and that's not very common in the short time they've known each other," Lance said.

"I know man, he does like her, and I admit. I'd be curious to find out what would happen if him and Bobbee split up." They both looked at Jc and Anna. They were deep in conversation and looked like they were so wrapped up in each other that nothing could have distracted them. Justin shook his head and thought to himself. 'He's miserable in his relationship anyway. Maybe she'll be the driving force he needs to end it....'

Chapter 12

"Yo Wade, can we try that one more time?" Jc yelled from up on stage.

Wade and Anna were standing at the control board at the side of the stage watching them go over their songs before the show that night. Anna had been on tour with them for a month and never got tired of watching them perform. She and Jc had grown even closer over that time and were now practically inseperable. As they went through the song, Anna and Wade discussed her career.

"We know you can sing, but can you dance?" Wade said with a half smile on his face. She looked at him and laughed. "Well, I've never really tried, but I'm up for a challenge," she said with a laugh. Jc and Chris came walking up and overheard their conversation. "What makes you think she can even sing?" Chris said as he took a drink from his water bottle.

"Yeah, it ain't like nobody's told her that since we got on tour," Jc said with a laugh which everyone duplicated, except Anna. Not only had she been complimented, multiple times, she had cut a demo with Johnny that was awesome. He had taken it to Jive records and no one had heard from him since then. Wade gave the duo an evil grin and said, "What are you guys doing down here? You're supposed to be up there practicing," Wade said, pointing to the stage.

"Well, if you had been listening then you would have heard us ask you to start the song over," Chris said with a sarcastic tone in his voice.

"Ok, ok, point taken," Wade said. "Just get back up there and I'll do my job."

"Good to hear," Jc said as he turned back and headed to the stage. Wade shook his head as the music started and the guys went through "Space Cowboy" one more time. This time they didn't mess up. Joey fell on the floor and moaned when the music cut off. "I hate rehearsals," he said through his heavy breathing. Justin leaned over and lifted his helpless friend off of the ground. "Quit complaining," Justin said. "We've always had rehearsals....and we always will."

Wade had blocked out the rest of the guys and was back to his conversation with Anna, except the topic had changed. "So do you think you're ready for tonight?" Wade asked in a hushed voice.

"I think this is the first time I've ever been nervous about a performance. It's scary," Anna said. She was actually shaking at the thought. She was really anticipating and dreading the performance that night. She had written her first song and the only person who knew about it was Wade, because he had helped her write it. They had written it in secret and she didn't want anyone to know until she performed it that night, even Jc. It was special to her, and she hoped everyone would like it.

"Don't worry, he'll like it," Wade said after a long silence. Anna looked at him with one eyebrow raised. "Who might you be refering to?"

"Don't play dumb with me. I know you want to impress Jc. And trust me you will."

"What makes you think I wrote it just to impress Jc?"

"Everyone knows two are made for each other," Wade said pointing to Jc, who was up on stage goofing around with Justin and Lance. "You two amaze me. You would think you two would open your eyes and see what's in front of you."

"And what would that be?" Anna asked innocently as she watched Jc and Justin break dance on stage for the MTV cameras.

"Your amazing you know it? Blinder than a bat," Wade said as he walked backstage, but not before yelling, "REHEARSALS ARE OVER!" There were a series of shouts and whoops of joy coming from the five guys on stage as the hopped down and followed Wade backstage. Anna waited on Jc, was he walked as slow as he possibly could just to annoy her.

"Come on, you slug! I'm hungry and I want to eat before you guys get off stage tonight!" Jc laughed at Anna's command and picked up his pace. When he reached her side, put his hands on her shoulders and guided her down the hall. "Chill out! You really need to stop and smell the roses," he said before letting go of her.

"If I stopped I'd probably eat the roses," Anna said with a laugh. Jc laughed with her as they walked out to the deserted parking lot and climbed into his Jeep.He started the car and said, "Where to madam?"

"Well Jeeves," she said in a snobby tone, "I think I would like to hit up an Italian resturant."

"Madam all of the italian restuarants in town are full, but there is an open reservation at Burger King," he said as he drove into town. She laughed and replied in her normal voice, "Sounds good to me. Food's food." When they arrived at the Burger King, Jc pulled his sunglasses off the sunviser. "Reach into the glove box and hand me my hat," he said. She handed him his hat and after placing it on his head, they climbed out of the car. She ran to the counter and ordered, Jc right behind her. They sat down with their trays at a booth in the back.

"So you never really talk much about how you like being on the tour. You're always asking questions the one asking questions," he said as he started eating.

"Well....what do you want to know?" she asked, following his example.

"What do you like best about it?"

"Well," she said between swallows. "I like being with you guys and meeting new people." Just as she finished her question, a young girl in her early teens strolled up to their table and sat down in the booth next to Jc. She leaned in and nearly whispered to him, "I didn't want to draw any attention so I thought I would come over here. Are you Jc Chasez?" He leaned over to her and whispered back, "Well thank you for not drawing a crowd. Yes, I am."

Anna saw a smile come over the girl's face. She looked over at Anna and asked, "And who are you?"

"My name's Anna," she said as she extended her hand to the fan. She took it happily and it was quite obvious that any friend of Jc's was a friend of her's. She turned back to Jc and spoke in a normal voice, "I'm Christine. I was wondering if I could get an autograph."

"Why of course," Jc said. Christine reached into her purse and pulled out a meet and greet pass from a previous concert date. Jc examined it and, pointing to the pass, he said, "Did you have fun at this concert?"

"Well I didn't get to go. I was sick with mono and I had to stay in the hospital," she said with a disappointed tone, but trying to hide the it in her face.

"I'm sorry," Jc added. "That must suck."

"Royally," she nodded. "But no worries. I have tickets for tonights concert." Jc smiled and looked at Anna. She knew exactly what he was thinking. She always carried an extra backstage pass in her purse incase she lost hers. She reached into her purse and pulled out her spare. She slid it across the table. JC took a pen out of Christine's hand and wrote on the back "Let her in. Jc." He handed it to Christine whose eyes widened when she realized what she had been handed.

"That's to make up for the mono," he said. "You shouldn't have trouble getting in the back, but if you do, tell Lonnie that Jc said to let you in." Tears of happiness rose in the fan's eyes as she hugged Jc. "Thank you so much," she said. "Oh one more question and then I'll leave."

"Anything for a fan!" Jc said. She hesitated for a moment, not knowing whether to ask or not, but finally blurted out, "Are you twodating? I promise I won't tell if you are." Anna looked shocked and Jc just laughed. "No, she's not my girlfriend. She is one of my best friends though."

"Ok. Curiousity killed the cat," she said as she stood up. "Thanks again." She walked away from the table. During their conversation, Anna had finished her lunch and watched Jc eat in silence. 'Why does everyone think we date, or should be dating?' she thought to herself.

Chapter 13

"Why are you so nervous? You never get nervous," Jc asked as he looked at Anna. She was shaking from head to toe while they sat in the dressing room. She had 20 minutes until her performance. She kept going over the lyrics to her song in her head a million times. Anna looked over at Jc and shook her head, "Can't a girl be nervous? Is that a crime?"

"Oh ok...now you're scaring me," Jc said as he stood up. "Come on, we have to go and wait with the stage manager or you'll miss your que." Anna sighed and stood up. 'You can't avoid this moment forever, Anna....'

She followed Jc out of the room and down the hall. He turned his head and looked back at her. "Why are you so tense? Lighten up! Tonight's not gonna be any different from any other night," Jc said as he walked by her side. He was really worried about her. The entire time they had been on tour, she had never been nervous, always enthusiastic and cheerful. This side of her was scary.

They reached the curtain where they stood in silence and waited for the stage manager for what seemed like forever. He finally ran up and said, "Ten minutes, Anna." She nodded her head and turned to the curtain. She peek out at the crowd and sighed loudly. Why did it seem like there were twice as many people out there all of the sudden?

"Ok....what's the deal? I've never seen you like this before. It's really starting to scare me," Jc said as he tried his best to look her in the eyes. She wouldn't look back into his. This scared him even more, but he didn't have a chance to question her anymore. The stage manger ran up and said, "You've got two minutes." Jc pressed her even more.

"Please! If it was something I did just let me know," Jc said with a desperate look in his face. Anna laughed at his frustrated look. "I'm not upset with you! I'm just nervous!"

"But you're never nervous! Why tonight?" The stage manager ran up again and said, "You're on! Go!" Anna hugged Jc and whispered in his ear, "This is for everything." She turned and walked onstage. The screams were never as loud as when the five guys took the stage, but she was used to this. Jc watched from behind the curtain and wondered what was going on as she walked over to a piano on one side of the stage. 'She can't play the piano?!'

Anna sat down at the piano chair and leaned in to the microphone that hung over it. "Hey Nsync fans!" The crowd screamed at the mere mention of the group's name. Anna laughed and said as she acted like she was standing up, "Well that's all for me goodnight." She got laughs from the crowd as Jc smiled behind the curtain. 'What is she cooking up?'

Anna shifted in her chair slightly as she immediately calmed down. This would be easier than she thought. "Well I know who you guys really came to see and it ain't me, so I'll keep this short. This is the first song I've ever written and I hope you guys like it." She closed her eyes and held her breath as she played the opening notes of the beautiful song. She sang into the microphone.

I don't know how, I don't know why
But it seems, you've touched my life
you're in my dreams, you're in my heart
I'm not myself, when we're apart

It was twice as easy as an other performance for Anna. There was a short musical break, and then Anna dived back into the song.

Something strange has come over me,
A raging wind across my seas,
And don't you know that your eyes are to blame.
And what am I supposed to do,
If I can't get over you
If I come to find that you don't feel the same.

There was another musical break in the song. She turned and saw that Jc was still pressed against the curtain, watching her every move. It was comforting to feel him there. She contunied playing her song while she sang into the chorus.

Cause I'm falling, falling
Falling for you.
And I pray you're falling too.
Yes I'm falling, falling
ever since the moment, I laid eyes on you.

There was a key change and she started to play an all too familiar song that she had known on the guitar. She sang into the microphone with all her heart.

In the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here.

She finished the final notes on the piano as the crowd erupted in screams. She stood and took her final bows as she turned and walked offstage. When she walked through the curtain, she saw that Jc was nowhere to be found. She threw her hands in the air in frustration.

"I can't the guy off of me when I want him to leave me alone and when I want him here, he's gone! I said it the day I met him and I'll say it again. That man is crazy." She turned and walked down the hallway to head for her private box where she always watched the concerts.

Meanwhile, Justin was fooling with his hair in the guys dressing room, when Jc burst through the door and immediately throws himself on the couch. "So you heard her performance did you?" Justin inquired without looking away from the mirror. Jc nodded his head. Justin laughed and turned to his best friend. "You know, it's very possible that she didn't write that song for you," he said as he plopped down beside Jc.

"I'm not worried about the song Justin," Jc said in destress as rolled off the couch and laid on the ground at his friend's feet. Justin suddenly caught on. "So you're worried about the way you feel. You think you're jumping into things and you don't want to do something she's not ready for yet. Admit it. I'm right," Justin said in a cocky tone.

"Ok," Jc said as he stood up and paced the ground. "I admit it. I care about her, but I just don't think it's right. It's too soon! We've only known each other for," Jc trailed off when he realized how long they had known each other. It had been a full month since they had met on the streets. Justin sighed and said, "You're right about on thing. It's not right. You have to think about Bobbee here. I mean she..."

"Right...I think we need to talk about that," Jc said as he suddenly stopped pacing. Justin's eyes grew wide as he caught on once again. "You didn't dump her did you?" he asked.

"More like she dumped me," Jc said. "Now what am I gonna do?"

"Ok, when did you and Bobbee break up?"

"It was the night I let Anna stay at my house. She was coming over there to talk to me and saw me go in the house with Anna." Justin stood up and sighed, "Well buddy I can't help you. Looks like you're on your own."

"What?!?! You can't be serious. Justin I can't do this alone! I've never felt so serious about someone in my life," Jc cried as Justin began to walk to the door.

"Then why the hell are you questioning me? You just said that you've never felt so serious about something in your life. That should be your answer. I felt the same way with Britney when we met up in Germany. Remember? You saw how I was. Remember what you told me? 'If you believe that in your heart it's right, then go for it Justin.' I'm passing on the advice." Justin opened the door and walked out of the room. Jc threw himself into a heep on the couch and sighed. 'That boy is crazy. But I know he's right...' Jc sat and gathered his thoughts until the stage manager opened the door. "Five minutes Jc. Come on!"

Jc stood up and grabbed his hat that he wore onstage for the opening number. 'I'll talk to her tonight.' Jc resolved in his mind that his feelings about her were true and that he was doing the right thing. 'If this is the right thing then why does it feel so wrong?'

Chapter 14

Anna waited on the tour bus for the guys. The concert was over and the guys were changing while she sat and gathered her thoughts. 'Why wasn't he there when I got off stage?' Just as she wondered these question's the guys all walked onto the bus. Chris walked on first and ran up to her. He plopped down at the table beside her put his arms around her waist. "It looks like we've got a diva on our hands. So who does she take after? Christina or Cher," Chris said. Anna wrapped her arms around his neck and threw him onto the floor under the table. "I like this view of you even better," Chris said from underneath the table.

Everyone laughed as they watched the pair wrestle on the floor. Of course, Anna was loosing miserably because Chris was stronger than she was. After a while, Anna sat on Chris's stomach and held his hands above his head. "This is why you don't mess with a diva when her sercurity guards are on a break," she laughed as she let go of his arms and stood up. Chris followed her example and stood up. He looked at the other guys, who were now sitting at the table. "Whose next?" he asked as he rubbed his hands together.

"I think I'll get a go at her," Joey said as he picked her up and carried her to the living room in the back of the bus. He threw her onto the couch as Jc walked in behind him. Doing his best cowboy impression, he said, "I can't let you handle that pretty lady like that no more." Anna laughed, as Joey turned on Jc and yelled, "Draw!" They ran at one another and started to wrestle on the floor of the bus. Jc was also getting his butt kicked. Joey was twice his size and twice as strong. After a few minutes of Jc struggling, Joey had him pinned. He stood up, leaving Jc in a heap on the ground. "That will teach you to mess with the badest guns in the west," Joey said as he walked out of the living room leaving Anna laughing and clutching her side.

"What are you laughing at?" Jc asked with a smile as he stood up.

"That was just funny," Anna said as she wiped the tears from her face. Jc ran and sat on top of her and said, "Do you think it's funny now?" He tickled her on her stomach as she laughed even harder. "No fair! You got a jump start," Anna cried between gasps of air. After a few minutes, she was completely out of breath and cried, "OK! OK! Uncle!" Jc grabbed her hands and held them down above her head, as she had down with Chris. "Now I've got you pinned," Jc said with a smile, "Does that mean I win?"

"For the time being," Anna said. "But I'm not done with you yet." After an ackward silence, Jc let go of her hands. She sat up as he moved of her. "Jc can I ask you something?" she asked in a more serious tone.

"Anything," Jc said as he tried to get her to look at him, but her eyes were focused on her lap as she twiddled her thumbs. "Well...why weren't you there when I got off stage?" This blunt question caught Jc off guard and he didn't know what to tell her.

"Well...I had to go and get changed for the concert," Jc lied. Jc had never left to change until Anna had gotten off stage. Because of this, Anna knew this was a lie and was about to ask more when her cell phone rang. She reached down and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Anna? It's Johnny," he said from the other line.

"Oh hi! I haven't heard from you in a long time. How are you doing?"

"I'm just great and I call bearing good news," he said.

"That's always good to hear," Anna said as he smiled. She put her hand over the phone and whispered to Jc, "It's Johnny." Jc nodded with a smiled.

"Anyways, what I was saying," Johnny said. "I just got out of the Jive studios and they loved your demo! They want you to come and sing for them, and if they like you, you're as good as signed!"

Trying not to scream in delight, she said, "That's awesome! When will it be?"

"I'll fly you back to Orlando on June 28 after the show. The meeting will be on the 29th and I'll fly you back on the 30th for the show in Cleveland. That sound good?"

"That's great! I'll see you then," Anna said before she said her goodbyes and hung up the phone. "Oh my god! Jc, you'll never guess. I have a meeting to perform for the people at Jive records on the 29th!"

"Johnny talks loud. I heard every word," Jc said. He leaned over and hugged her. It warmed his heart to see her so happy.

"You have to come with me," Anna said as she left his arms and looked him the eyes for the first time that night. "This will be the first year I actually get to do something for my birthday and you have to be there!"

"Your birthday? It's your birthday?" Jc asked.

"I'll be twenty on the 29th. How awesome is that? I get to perform for a record company on my birthday!"

"That's ironic. We'll have to celebrate! I'll tell you what. As my present, we'll go out on the town that night."

"Really? That's awesome! I've never actually seen much of Orlando. That will be so much fun," Anna said. She was practically giving off a light, she was so happy. Jc couldn't help, but smile. Seeing her so happy atomatically put him in a good mode. "That'll be our first date Mrs. Scarlett," Jc said in his fake accent. Anna laughed. "Why I believe it is," she said, trying her best to imitate his accent. She failed miserably and they laughed at her antics before returning to the kitchen to give everyone the good news.

Chapter 15

Anna and Jc stepped out of the terminal and into the plane. They had asked the other guys if they had wanted to go, but everyone had other plans. Jc was kind of grateful. He thought he could use all the time alone with Anna he could get. They found thier seats and sat down. Anna sat down by the window and looked at Jc. "Is this scary?" she asked.

"The first time it is," Jc said. "But I've done this so many times I'm used to it."

"I'm a little nervous, but I think it'll be fun! There's got to be a first time for everything," Anna said as she put a smile over her fear and looked out of the window. Jc took out his cd player and started to dig through his cds. Anna looked at the cds in his lap curiously. Jc saw her eyeing his cds and laughed. "Have you ever heard of any of these people?" Jc asked.

"I'm not sure, let me see," she asked. Jc handed her his cds and held off on the player as they went through his cds. She didn't recognize any of the names until she came across the Wallflowers. "I used to play thier songs at the Cafe all the time," she said, pointing to their album. They kept going through the rest of the cd's. None of the rest she recognized. The last two cds in his case were two Britney Spears cds.

"Oh can I please listen to a song by her! I've never heard any of her stuff," Anna said with a pleading look on her face. Jc picked up her debut album. "Ok, but you have to do it the right way," he said as he put the cd in his cd player. The stewardess called for everyone to put their seatbelts on. They paused long enough to do what she said and then he handed her the cd player. "Listen to number 1. It's her first single."

Anna put on the headphones and listened to "Baby One More Time". Jc watched as Anna concentrated on the music. When the song was finished, Anna took off the headphones. "That was pretty cool," Anna said. Jc picked up on something odd in her voice. "But," he said.

"No buts. It's just not really what I expected it to be. I expected it to be a little more acoustic than that," Anna said.

"Well, that's all you've ever known. There are lots of different kinds of music out there," Jc said.

"Listen, I'm behind with the times, not music eliterate," she said with a laugh.

"Well that was the old Britney. She recorded that song when she was 16, so she's changed a lot since then. Her sound has evolved."

"I can tell. When we were in your studio, the song we did was a lot different from that," Anna said. Jc had never heard Anna talking about that night she and Britney were in the studio together, and he was eager to know more. Anna read what he was thinking and added, "No, I'm not gonna tell you anything else about it."

"How do you read me like that? It's not fair," he said. "Anyways, moving on. Listen to number 3. That was her next single after that." Anna put the head phones on again and listened to the song. It was only then that Jc realized that the plane had already taken off and they were in the air. When the song was finished, Anna slid off the headphones. "That was a lot different from the other one," Anna said.

"Next single was number 2," Jc said. Anna listened to every single by Britney all the way up to "Oops...I did it again". Anna had just finished listening to the song and slid the head phones off. "That one was closer to like what we did in the studio," Anna said. She knew she was teasing Jc, but it was so funny to her to see the frustrated look on his face.

"If your not gonna tell me about it then don't say anything at all," Jc pouted. "Anyways, that was Ms. Britney Spears."

"I liked it. I'll have to barrow her cds from you sometime and listen to all of them."

"I hate to break it to you, but don't you need a cd player?" Jc asked in a sarcastic tone.

"Yes, smartey pants. I'm sure I can get one of my OTHER friends to let me borrow one," Anna said. "I do have other friends you know..."

"Ouch....that was harsh."

"Oh shut up, I didn't hurt your feelings, you're just pouting at the fact that I'm not the center of your attention."

"There you go, reading my mind again," Jc said with a laugh. "Oh and Anna. I think there's a friend waiting outside the window for you." Anna, who hadn't realized that they had taken off, turned and saw a bird flying next to her window. She let out a yell of shock, and leaned closer to Jc. "Sssshhhh," Jc said trying to quiet her between giggles. Anna turned and smacked him on the head.

"OW! What was that for?"

"For not telling me that we took off! When did we take off?" Anna asked as she looked back out of the window at the smaller world below.

"We took of about 30 minutes ago," Jc said looking at his watch. Anna turned and raised her hand in the air. "Put on your headphones before I beat the crap out of you!" Anna said demandingly. Jc did as he was told and the rest of the plane ride was in silence. 'Why does he have to be so perfect?' Anna wondered. 'That makes it even harder for me...'

'Why does she have to be so irresistible?' Jc wondered. 'That'll just make this easier for me to decide on...'

"When we get to the house, will you do something with me?" Jc asked as he drove his rental car from the airport. Anna looked at him suspiously. "That depends. What do you want?" she asked with one eyebrow raised.

"I want you to get in the studio and do a song with me," Jc said. Anna sat speechless. That was probably the last thing she had expected him to ask her. She sat in silence, wondering what to think. 'How does he even know that I can write?'

"Wouldn't you be afraid that I would write worth a crap?" Anna said harshly. Jc picked up on the hostility in her voice. He brushed it off.

"Well I heard you perform that song you wrote at the concert," Jc said. Anna rolled her eyes and mumbled to herself, "Could've fooled me."

"Huh," Jc said, not picking up what she had said.

"Nothing," she said as she stared out of the window. Jc didn't know why she was acted so strange, but he decided to ignore it. Nothing was going to ruin his two days with her. "Anyways, what do you say? Wanna work with me for a little while tonight?" Jc asked. Anna really couldn't think of an excuse to get out of and to get of it she knew it would take a good one. She nodded her head and whispered, "Yeah, sure. Why not?" Jc smiled and looked over at her. She glanced up at him and smiled back. She could never get mad at him. It was practically impossible. "What were you planning on writing a song for?" Anna asked after Jc put his eyes back on the road. He turned into the driveway of his house.

"Well, I just thought we would go into the studio and write a song and maybe later on we could find a purpose for it," Jc said as he took the keys out of the ignition and stepped out of the car. Anna was already out of the car and at the door, by the time Jc shut the car door. He laughed and declared, "I think someone is a little excited."

"How'd you figure that out? It wasn't that obvious or anything," Anna said before Jc unlocked the door. Jc set his keys on the table in the foyer and watched Anna run to the studio. He laughed and followed her. He saw her sitting in the chair in front of the control board. After shutting the door to the studio, he asked, "Don't you think you should learn how to run that thing first?"

"Nope...my job is the guitar and yours is the controls," she said. She stood up and grabbed an acoustic guitar from the corner. "How do you wanna do this?"

"Well," Jc said. "First you have to decide what kind of song you want to write."

"I don't know, let's just flow with it and see where it goes," Anna said while she tuned her instrument.

"Ok....Let me see," he said as he sat there and thought for a moment. His mind
was blank. He didn't know what to do. Normally a beat just came to mind when he was in the studio, but he was actually blank. Then it hit him. "I have an idea. Follow me." He stood and lead her to the room with his grand piano in it. He sat on the stool. "I feel like working on the piano," he said as he placed his hands on the keys.

He started to play a random melody off the top of his head. It was a pretty melody and he congradulated himself for coming up with it. "Make something up to go with this," he said as he continued to play. Anna stood beside him and continued to think for a minute. Anna thought about it for a moment before playing two slow chords on her guitar. It was a very pretty melody that they ended up using in the song.

After an hour in the studio writing the music to the song, Jc turned to Anna and said, "Well that's done. Now the lyrics." He reached inside of the piano chair and pulled out a notebook and a pen. "What do you think? I have no clue what to write."

"Well, I have an idea." She sang a verse and then stopped. "I don't know what to say after that." Jc picked up where she had left off and sang a chorus off of the top of his head. The song went on like that until they had the song completely finished and recorded. When they had finished, Anna looked at Jc, who was replaying the track, and asked, "Jc...do you mind if I take this with me to the record company tomorrow?" Jc leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"Sure you can," he said. "It's your song too."

"Thanks Jc. She stood up and gave him hug before walking out of the room. She shouted from down the hall, "I'm going to bed. See ya in the morning!" Jc sat in the studio by himself and sighed. 'Your such an idiot! Why didn't you say anything??? It was your perfect oppotunity and you blew it.'

"I'll do it tomorrow," he decided out loud. "Tomorrow..."

Chapter 16

Jc sat on the couch and tapped his foot. He looked at his watch for the millionth time and yelled, "Come on! You're gonna be late!" Anna had been in the bathroom for an hour and had never come out. Jc was starting to wonder what women did with all their time in the bathroom. Then he heard her from inside the bathroom. "Jc I know this isn't the best I've ever looked, but please be brutally honest, ok? I want to look nice," Anna yelled. Jc stood up and walked to the bathroom. He leaned against the wall across from the bathroom door.

"I'm waiting," he said. He heard Anna sigh as the door opened. She had never looked so...proffesional. She was wearing a long skirt with slits on the on the sides and an indian design on it. She had on an orange halter top and her hair was pulled into a white banana clip. Jc looked her over from head to toe. "You look very nice," Jc said. He held out his arm for her and said, "Are you ready Ms. Mitchell?"

"No," she said as she linked her arm with his. "But let's go anyway. I'd rather be unprepared than late." They walked outside to Jc's Jeep and climbed in. As Jc started the car, Anna yelled, "Oh man! I forgot something! I'll be right back." She hopped down out of the car and ran back into the house. She ran into the studio and grabbed two tapes, sitting on the control panel. After a few minutes of waiting, he saw her close the door and jog back to the car. She closed the car door and turned to Jc. "NOW I'm ready," she said with a confident grin. He pulled out of the driveway and drove down the road as she clicked on the radio and started surfing through the stations. She stopped when she heard Justin's voice coming through the radio.

"Hey that's 'It's Gonna Be Me'! I haven't heard them play it on the radio yet! Dig out my cell and call the guys," Jc said as he turned the volume up.

"Is this the next single or something?" Anna asked as she dialed the number and listened to the phone ring.

"Yeah, we just released it yesterday," he said. Anna heard someone pick up the phone and say, "Hello?"

"Justin! Listen," Anna said. She was quiet and let him listen to the song.

"So? That's 'It's Gonna Be Me'," Justin said, as if it wasn't a big deal. Anna handed the cell phone to Jc who was holding out his hand. Jc yelled into the reciever, "THAT'S THE RADIO MAN! Not the cd player!"

"Nah! It can't be! We just released it yesterday," Justin said in a shocked voice.

"Well, they're already playing it on the radio," Jc said. The song ended. "Dang it man! You missed it."

Justin sighed on the other end and said, "Oh well. I'll let you go man." They said their good-byes and Jc hung up the phone. He handed it to Anna, who put it back in the glove box.

"Jc, do you think I have a shot at getting signed or do you think I'm wasting my time?" Anna asked uncertainly. Jc pulled his car into the driveway of the WEG complex. He stopped his car and pulled his keys out of the ignition. "If they don't then we'll just go to another record company. Johnny won't give up on you, trust me. But we don't have to worry about it though because they'll love you," he said staring deep into his eyes. Anna leaned over and hugged Jc. After a few seconds, he pulled back and stared at her. "What was that for? You've been giving me a lot of those lately," Jc said with a slight laugh.

"For everything. You've done so much for me, and I have no clue how I'm ever going to pay you back. If it wasn't for you then I would even be here right now..."

Jc held his hand over her lips to slience her. A chill shot down her spine as his hand touched her lips and she jumped slightly in shock. "You do NOT have to repay me for anything. You're a great person and you deserve this more than anything. So go in there, play your heart out, and promise me. They'll like you," he said. He opened his car door and climbed out. She did the same, and they walked to the WEG complex. Anna knocked on the door, but Jc pushed the door open. "It's Johnny. Just barge on in, HEY JOHNNY!" he yelled down the hall. Johnny came walking into the foyer and said, "Hey man! I didn't know you were coming." He greated his friend and then turned to Anna.

"So, are you ready? The exects are waiting in my office," Johnny said to her. Anna nodded and started to follow him as he walked down the hall. Jc grabbed her hand and made her turn around and face him. "Do you want to wait or go with you?" he asked. He didn't want to make her nervous, which was something that was becoming easier to do for him to do. She smiled and replied, "I'd rather you wait for me. I want to do this on my own." He smiled at her bravery and kissed her on the cheek. "I'll be waiting right here," he said as he pointed to a bench beside the door.

Anna turned and walked down the hallway where Johnny had been waiting. She followed him down the hall and into his office. She was shocked when she saw a very young woman in a business suit and another man in a suit and tie sitting beside her. She hadn't expected them to be so...young. They both stood as Johnny introduced them to her. Anna shook their hands and they sat back down as Anna took her seat in the chair across from Johnny's. "I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to need so I brought a few demos, just in case," Anna said as she pulled them out of her purse and set them on the table. The woman picked one up and looked at the label.

"I haven't ever heard this song by Britney Spears before," she said. Anna laughed and shook her head.

"No, no...me and Britney wrote that song together and she's on it too."

"Oh so your friends with Britney?" the man asked before the woman set the demo back down on the table.

"Yes I'm close with Britney. The other one was written by me and another one of my friends," Anna said as her eyes met Johnny's. He mouthed "Jc" to her. She nodded her head. He gave her a thumbs up. "I think we should listen to all of them," Johnny said. "What would these songs be used for?" Johnny asked as he picked up the one she and Jc had written.

"Well, the one that me and Britney wrote, she wanted to save and use on her next album," Anna said as Johnny put the demo she and Jc had written together in a tape play. "The other one is for my purposes." Johnny hit play on the tape player and everyone listened to the track. Anna smiled to herself as she heard it. She was very proud of it and it was her favorite song of the three she had. When the song had finished, Johnny hit stop on the tape player and picked up the next tape. This song was definetly more up beat and had an urban sound. Britney and Anna alternated singing back and forth as they sang the words.

All you people look at me like I'm a little girl (Anna)
But did you ever think it'd be ok for me to step into this world (Britney)
Always saying little girl don't step into the glow
Well I'm just trying to find out why, cause dancing's what I love.

They listened to the rest of the song in silence. Anna caught the two executives eyeing each other and smiling. When Johnny, pressed stop on the track he immediately turned to Anna. "This is the last thing you have to do for us. You have to perform something. We want to make sure it's you singing on these demos. I know it is, but they don't," he said pointing to the two sitting beside him.

"Umm...ok. Do you have a guitar?" Anna asked. Johnny stood and walked behind his desk. He had one sitting in the corner waiting on her. She realized what it was when he was walking over. It was the guitar she had used the first night she had opened for *Nsync. When Johnny handed it to her, he leaned over and whispered, "Look on the back." He sat back down as she turned over the guitar. There was a single white rose taped to the back, along with a note. Anna didn't mind that the executives were sitting there, she took the note off of the guitar and ripped it open.

Anna,
Hey! How you rockin em'? Have they signed you yet? Congrats in advance! I know your blowin there minds, like you blow mine. ;) I hope everything turns out the way your heart wants it. You deserve this.
Love,
Jc

Anna smiled and closed the note. She taped the rose back onto the guitar for luck, closed her eyes, and went into the best rendition of her song "Falling" that she had ever played.

Chapter 17

Jc sat on the bench and waited. She had been in there for 30 minutes and Jc was starting to get nervous. What would she say to him? Was he too forward with the note? 'No Jc. You promised yourself you would tell her how you felt.' He sighed as he heard someone walking down the hall. He looked up to see her holding her guitar and a thick paper book. Jc knew it was her contract and didn't even have to ask. He stood and they walked out to his car. Once both of the car doors were shut, Anna exploded. "I GOT SIGNED!" She cheered as she danced in her seat and threw her arms around Jc. He laughed as she held her death grip on him.

"That's great," Jc choked. Anna laughed and let go of him.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to kill you there. I'm just so happy!" It made him smile just to hear that her dreams were coming true. He looked at the guitar in the back seat and saw the rose to taped to the back. He sighed and started the car. Anna saw him glance at the guitar and said, as he pulled out onto the streets. "You know you got me that record deal," she said.

"Oh yeah? And how's that?" he asked as he glanced from her to the road.

"I got your note," she smiled. He looked at her. He expected her to have acted less enthused by the letter, but it was obviously on her mind. That was his first step to reaching out to her. "Oh really," he said. "How did that play a part in all of this?"

"To know that someone would still care about me even if I didn't make it, made me a little more confident," she said, not taking her eyes off of him. He tried not to blush, but failed and turned a light shade of pink. Anna laughed and said, "Aw man! I wish I had a camera! I've never seen you blush before!" She leaned back in her seat and clutched her sides in laughter. He grabbed on the back of the neck and pulled her close to him, until her head was resting on his chest.

"I can't hug you, so that will have to do for now," he said as he let go of her. She sat up in her seat and said, "You know, we have to find a new way to show our a affection. Hugs are getting old."

Jc sighed, "I'll have to think about that one."

Anna turned to face him in her seat. She said, "So you promised me a night on the town for my birthday..."

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry I forgot! Happy birthday!" he said as he took his eyes off of the road long enough to look at her.

"It's ok! Don't worry about it. What are we gonna do tonight?" Anna was practically bouncing in her seat. He laughed at her enthusiasm. She had had a great day and Jc wasn't about to ruin it. "I hate to tell you Anna," Jc said. "But it's a..."

"Suprise? Oh man Jc. not now! TELL ME!" she whined. Jc laughed.

"If I had gotten you an actual gift then I wouldn't tell you what it was and I'm not telling you what we're doing tonight," Jc said. "You'll just have to wait and see..."

"Will I like it?" Anna asked as she faced the front of the car again. Jc thought about how he could answer that.

"I hope you do," he said finally. That was all he knew to say.

Chapter 18

Jc got a feeling of de ja vu as he sat on the couch and waited for Anna to come out of the bathroom. "Anna how long can you take? You already had make-up on," Jc said as he stood up and leaned against the wall across from the bathroom door, as he had done earlier that day.

"But this is more special than before. Do you want me to look bad?" she said from inside the bathroom. Jc shook his head and responded, "That's not possible. You could be wearing a pillowcase and I bet you would look good."

"I'm sure you have a very clear image of that in your head, but thanks."

Jc laughed. "Come on! I said you should look casual. I mean I'm wearing jeans and a nice shirt. That's all you need to wear," he complained. She didn't say anything for a few minutes. Jc turned and walked into the kitchen. He made himself a glass of water and yelled, "Do you want anything to drink?"

"No thanks," he heard her say. Jc noticed how clear her voice had been and figured it was because she was out of the bathroom. He set down his glass and walked to the doorway. He leaned against the door frame and watched her play with her hair in the mirror over the fireplace. Now she was wearing a pair of low-cut black jeans, a yellow tanktop, and pair of black boots. She had a black jean jacket with baby blue patches on the sleeves in her hands. She played with her wavy hair in the mirror for a few seconds before noticing Jc in the mirror. "You like?" she said, still looking at his reflection in the mirror.

"I don't get it. I spend hours getting ready for shows and I still look like crap, and you spend thirty minutes or an hour in the bathroom and you look good everytime," he said as he walked over to her. She turned and slipped on her jacket. "So are you still not gonna tell me where we're going?" she asked as she followed him outside to his Jeep.

"Nope...my lips are sealed," he said. He walked over to her side of the car and opened the door for her. "Ladies first."

"Gentleman huh? I like this side of you, you should show it more often," she laughed as she climbed into the car.

"I only bring him out on special occasions," he said before shutting her door.

They pulled up to a night club as Anna cried with excitement. "I've never been to a club before!" Jc pulled into a parking space and turned off the car. "I guess I made a good choice then," he said. She started to open her car door, but he yelled, "NO!" She stopped and watched him as he ran around to her side of the car and opened her door. She climbed out and said, "I see a pattern forming here."

"You're quick," Jc said. After she had climbed out, he shut the door. Anna pointed back to the car and said, "Don't you need you hat for disquise?" Jc turned back to her and grabbed her hand. "Not at a club, the only thing they do here is hit on me. But I think I'm not the one who's gonna have to worry about booty calls tonight."

Anna smacked him on the arm and stared at him in shock. "They won't make a
move on me when they see I have Prince Charming by my side," she said as they pulled out their id's to show the security guard. He handed them their ids and let them enter the club.

Anna looked around as she looked back at Jc. "It looks like one of those clubs you'd see in a movie," she said as she looked at the strobe lights hanging on the ceiling. Jc laughed and said, "Now you know why they look like that in movies." Anna grabbed Jc's hand and started to pull him to the dance floor. "Come on let's dance!"

"I thought you told Wade you had never tried to dance," Jc said.

"Yeah, but I also told him that there was a first time for everything. Besides you didn't bring me here and expect me not to dance," Anna said as she dragged him further onto the dance floor. He gave in and followed her to the middle. For it to be her first time dancing, she was very good. Jc couldn't keep his eyes off of her as the strobe lights made her move in slow motion. They moved in harmony together as they danced to the dj's music. The whole world could have collapsed around them and they wouldn't have noticed.

Eventually people started to form a circle around them and watch them dance. They were so wrapped up in each other they didn't notice the attention. When the song ended, they kept going through the next song. They danced for an hour nonstop until Anna stopped dancing, and yelled over the music, "Can we take a break popstar? You're wearing me out!" The circle of people around them all started cheering at once for them. That was the first time they had noticed the crowd. They both blushed and walked off the dance floor. Jc wrapped his arms around her waist and yelled, "If you can't handle this then just let me know and I'll go find somebody else to dance with."

Anna looked at him in shock. "You would go and make me jealous like that? How mean are you," she said as they reached the bar and sat down.

Jc laughed at her and added, "You would get jealous?" Anna sat and thought about that. She would be extremely jealous! She wanted him to dance with her, and only her. But she couldn't do that to him. She couldn't keep him on a leash like that. He was a free guy and he could dance with whoever he wanted. 'Then why does it bother you so much Anna.'

"Actually, yeah. It would hurt my feelings if you danced with someone else," Anna blurted out. She immediatley regretted saying it, but Jc just smiled and replied, "Well you don't have to worry. I came with you and your the only person in this room I planned on dancing with." Anna blushed.

"How do you do that?" she asked. Jc looked at her curiously and asked, "Do what?" Anna shook her head and decided that from now on she was going to think before she spoke. She was speaking on impulse and wasn't making any sense. "Nothing, I don't remember what I was going to say." Jc took her hand and pulled her off of the bar stool.

"Come on, we still have one more place to go," Jc said as he lead her to the door. Anna pulled back.

"Go? Already? We've only been here for an hour," she said. Jc pulled her still and said, "Well if we don't leave now, then we'll miss our reservations."

"Reservations huh?" Anna smiled slyly. He had just given away his next secret.

"Yep, but you don't know where," JC said smiling slyly back.

"Well where to?" she asked as they walked to the parking lot.

"That is a suprise," he said.

They pulled up to a fancy resturant about fifteen minutes later. Jc handed his keys to the valet and led her into the resturant. She looked around in awe. She had never been in a resturant that nice before. Jc walked up a man standing at a podium and said, "Reservation for two, under Chasez." The man didn't even look at his list. He smiled and pointed across the hotel. "Up the stairs in the corner, the first door on the left," he said. They followed his directions and made their way across the resturant.

They walked up the flight of stairs. Half way up, Jc turned and said, "You have to close your eyes."

"How will I walk up the stairs?" Anna asked.

"One step at a time," he laughed. "I'll walk behind you and make sure you don't fall." He stood behind her and waited. She closed her eyes and, burning with excitement, she slowly walked up the steps. When she reached the top, Jc opened the door and led her through it. She felt the slight breeze and guessed that they were outside. Jc said, "Ok...open." She opened her eyes and gasped in shock.

They were on the roof of the restuarant. They're was a table set up in the middle of the roof, with candles and a vase of roses. Those weren't the only roses there. The entire roof was scattered with white and red roses. Anna looked around in shock. Jc smiled.

"Jc...I can't believe you did this," she gasped. She continued to look around as she Jc put a hand on her back and motioned her towards the table. She walked over to it and sat down. Jc sat across from her and picked up his menu.

"So...you like?" he asked. She was still looking at all the roses. She felt like she could cry. No one had ever gone out of their way like this for her and it truly touched her heart. "I love it," she whispered.

"Good," Jc said. "So do you have anything in mind to eat? They have everything." Anna stapped back into the real world and picked up her menu. "Do they have cheeseburgers?" Jc laughed in shock.

"Cheeseburgers? Are you sure that's what you want?" he laughed.

"Sure! I know it doesn't fit the romantic mood, but that's what I feel like having," she said. She set her menu down and looked at him. He was staring at her. He shook his head and laughed. "You amaze me," he said. Just then a waiter, walked through the door and said, "Hello. My name is Peter and I'll be your server. What can I get you guys?"

"The lady wants a cheeseburger and an orange soda and I'll have the same," Jc said to the waiter as he handed him them their menus. He walked out of the scribbling on his notepad.

"How did you know that I wanted an orange soda?" Anna asked. Anna and Jc talked for about five minutes, when the server returned with their food. They ate most of their meal in silence.

Anna finally looked up from her plate and said, "So how'd you do all of this?"

"What do you mean?" Jc asked.

"You've never left my side! I've been with you this whole trip and I've never seen you make any phone calls or anything. How'd you do all of this?" Anna asked.

"Things can happen in your sleep," Jc smiled. "Besides, if I gave away my secrets, then I wouldn't be able to do things like this again." Anna smiled.

"I thought this was a once and a lifetime kinda thing," Anna said.

"Not if you want it to happen. Then it'll happen whenever you want," Jc said. "And sometimes when you didn't ask." She stared in his eyes for a few seconds. She realized that when she first met Jc, she could read his eyes perfectly, but now, there was something in his eyes that she couldn't read. It was scary almost, but she was drawn to him. She shook herself back to the real world and looked at her empty plate. "I don't know about you, but I couldn't handle desert," Anna said.

"Me either," Jc said. "You ready to head home."

Anna sighed. "As much as I would like to being pampered silly, I think it's time to go and chill." Jc nodded his approval at her plan. They stood up and pushed their chairs in. Anna reached into the vase and pulled out a red and a white rose. They walked down the stairs, across the resturant, and to the parking lot in silence. They climbed into the Jeep and started their drive home.

"So I hope you had fun tonight," Jc said as he drove down Main Street.

"You have no idea," Anna said. "This is, by far, the best day of my life." Jc felt good that all his hard work had paid off. Anna played with the roses in her lap. She was now a signed musician, she had a blast at her first club, and had ate dinner with the greatest guy in the world. She looked at Jc as he concentrated on the road. 'I wonder how long it'll last though. I'm getting my hopes on anything. It's too good to be true anyways...'

About 20 minutes later, they pulled into Jc's driveway. They climbed out of the car and stumbled towards the house. "Is it just me or do your feet hurt?" Anna asked as Jc unlocked and opened the door. They walked inside and Jc answered, "You are not the only one. Trust me. My feet hurt too." They walked into the living room and fell onto the couch. Jc pulled his shoes off and Anna turned on the tv. "Do you wanna watch a movie?" Anna asked as she flipped through the guide on the tv.

"As long as it's not a physical activity, I'm game," he said. "What do you wanna watch?"

"I don't know. I was just looking to see what was on," she said. They looked through the guide together when they came across a movie called Slingblade. "Have you ever seen that?" she asked.

"No, I don't think I have. You?" he answered. She shook her head and clicked the info button. She read out loud, "Billy Bob Thorton plays a man who spends his whole life in a mental instutite for a murder he commited when he was young. When released, many years later, he makes friends with a young country boy and his family. A murder mystery."

"Sounds good to me," Jc said. He wrapped his arm around the back of the couch as they got interested in the movie. Somehow they had gotten closer to each other and by the middle of the movie, Anna had her head on his shoulder and he had his arm around her waist.

When the two hour movie had ended, Jc stretched and and looked over at Anna. She was fast asleep in his arms. He laughed to himself. She was so pieceful when she slept. He picked her up and carried her to her bedroom. He set her on the bed, not worried that she was still wearing her clothes from earlier that night. He covered her and kissed her on the forehead. He watched her sleep while brushing the hair out of her face. He stood and walked out of the room.

Anna slowly opened her eyes and looked at the place where Jc had been. She smiled and went back to sleep. 'Don't get to attached Anna...it won't last...'

*AUTHOR'S NOTE* (I realize that the VH1 awards go on later in the year than when this story was set, and that Nsync NEVER gets nominated, but for the stories purposes, I changed a few of those things.)

Chapter 19

"Give it to me Chris," Justin commanded as Chris held Justin's cell phone to his ear. Chris backed away from his reach.

"Hold on man....is this Britney?" Chris said with an evil grin on his face. Justin gave him a threatening look. A voice on the other line said, "Yeah that's me. Is this Chris?"

"Oh of course. I have your love toy standing right in front of me," Chris said as Justin reached for his phone. Chris backed out of the way and said into the receiver, "Did you know your love bunny was talking about you last night in his sleep?" Justin reached out again and gave Chris an evil look.

"Chris I swear to god..." he laughed. Chris backed away one more time, and listened to Britney laughed in on the other end of the phone. "Oh my god! Are you serious? What did he say?" Justin made one more swipe at his phone, but Chris turned and darted into the bathroom. Before Justin could catch him, he had shut and locked the door. Justin banged on the door and yelled, "Chris if you tell her anymore I swear to god I'll...."

"He was saying how much he loved you and he missed you," he heard Chris say from inside the bathroom. Justin continued to bang on the door. "What the hell are you doing?" Jc asked. Justin turned and saw Anna and Jc walk onto the bus. They set their bags on the floor as Justin went into his explanation. "I was talking about Britney in my sleep last night and Chris stole my phone. He's telling Britney all about it and I'm trying to get him to come out of the bathroom."

"Let me handle this," Anna said. She marched over to the bathroom and banged on the door. "Chris I got signed!" she yelled. The door swung open and before Chris even had a chance to react, Anna reached out and grabbed the phone out of his hands. She handed it back to Justin, picked up her bags, and headed towards the back of the bus. Justin and Chris stood and stared endlessly at one another. Jc followed Anna to the back of the bus, while Chris and Justin continued to stare.

"Did she just say what I think she said?" Britney's muffled voice said to Justin as he pulled the phone up to his ear.

"I'll call you back," Justin said. He hung up his phone and ran towards the back of the bus, with Chris close behind. They burst into the living room area, where Anna and Jc were sitting watching tv.

"Did you say that you got signed?" Justin said, plopping down beside her. Chris sat across from her. She smiled innocently and looked at Justin. "And what would you say if I did?" Anna said, looking from Chris to Justin. Justin turned to Jc and asked, "Is she joking or did Johnny really get her signed?"

"Let her show you the contract. That's her business," Jc said with a smile. Justin leaned forward and hugged Anna. "I'm so happy for you! That's awesome! When do you go to the studio?" Justin asked, letting go of her.

"Johnny said that he would work out the minor details and give me a call," Anna said. Chris jumped out of his chair and declared, "So when are we gonna celebrate?" Justin stood with him and said, "Yeah! We should celebrate! What do you guys think?" Jc glanced over at Anna. She was shaking her head at Justin and Chris.

"No you guys, "I just got in and I want to chill around for a little while." Justin and Chris gave her a puppy lip and begged, "PLEASE!" Anna glanced at Jc who shrugged in defeat. They both knew it was a battle she couldn't win. So she looked back at her party hungry friends and asked, "What exactly did you have in mind?" Justin and Chris looked at one another and formed matching, evil grins on their faces. Anna turned to Jc.

"Jc, help me. I don't like that face," Anna said. Jc laughed and looked at the two, who were now on their knees, begging. It was the most pitiful sight Jc had ever seen. He turned off the tv and turned to his friends. "Come one you guys," he said as he wrapped his arms around Anna's shoulder. "Give the popstar a chance to breath. We've had a busy couple of days and she has to perform tomorrow night. Give her one day to breathe." Justin and Chris looked at one another.

"I think we should give pity on her this one time," Justin said. Chris sighed and stood up. "Yeah ok," Chris said. He turned to Anna and added, "We could've had fun." Anna laughed at his disappointed tone. "I have no doubt," she laughed.

Chris walked towards the front of the bus. Justin turned and said to Jc, "We're gonna go out with Lance and Joey anyways. If you guys change your minds..."

"We know where to find you," Jc said. Justin followed Chris to the front of the bus. Anna fell backwards and laid down on the couch. "Thanks for helping me out," she said. "I don't think I could've taken a night out tonight."

"Psh...who said I was helping you out. I knew if you went I'd have to go and I didn't wanna go," Jc said. Anna threw her feet in his lap and said, "Well then, don't you sound caring and UNselfish. My knight in shining armor."

"So what do you wanna do tonight?" Jc asked. Anna sat up and sat indian stlye in front of him. "Why is it up to me?" she retorted.

"Well I planned our night out in Orlando," he shrugged. "I just firgured you would want to make the plans for once." Anna thought for a second. What could they possibly do that night on a tour bus? It was a good question that she couldn't think of an answer for. Jc snapped and said, "When do we leave L.A.? Tomorrow?"

"Yeah," she said. "Why?"

"I know what we can do," Jc said. "We got asked to go the VH1 award show tonight and we had to turn them down because it just made things too hectic."

"You mean we can go to the awards?" Anna said in excitement. "Are you kidding?"

"If you want to," Jc said. Anna's face lit up. "Of course I would love to!" she cheered. She looked at her watch and added, "What time does it start?"

Jc thought for a second. "We should probably be there at about 7:00. Why?"

"Because I need to know about what time to start getting ready," she said. She grabbed the remote and turned on the tv. Jc leaned back and watched tv as Anna watched him. 'Is this a date? Or just a friend thing? It doesn't matter...it won't ever happen anyway.....'

Chapter 20

"Hi we're back and the stars are arriving here at VH1 and they're hotter than ever. If you have been watching you've already seen Lenny Kravitz, Gwen Stefani, and the members of Creed. We've just received word that Nsync member Jc Chasez should be arriving any moment, but with who? The word through the grape vine is that he and short time girlfriend, Bobbee Grund, ended things a month ago. When he arrives we'll question him, but in the mean time, we just saw Steven Tyler pull in. Steven! Steven!"

There couldn't have been more reporters at the show. The security SUV Lonnie was driving Anna and Jc in was in a sea of limos and sports cars. Anna was nervous. She had never been to anything like this before. She turned to Jc and said, "Will it be like this when we get inside?"

"Like what?" Jc said. He didn't look the least bit phased by the fans and media. Anna realized, it was probably because he had done this several times before. "Media, fans, cameras everywhere?" she asked.

"Well," Jc said. "Cameras, yes, fans, yes, and media, there'll be twice as many, but it won't be as crowded. Trust me. Just have fun with this. You'll be doing this again one day." She looked over at him and smiled.

"Thank you for the compliment, but don't get ahead of me," she said. The car came to a stop and Lonnie jumped out of the driver's seat. He opened Jc's door, and Jc climbed out to the screams of fans. He waved, walked over to the other side of the car, and opened Anna's door. The fan's went silent as Anna stepped out of the SUV. Jc shut the door and held his arm out for her. She weaved her arm through his and commented, "This gentleman thing is really starting to win me over."

"Then my evil plot is working.....excellent," Jc said. Anna laughed as they walked up the red carpet. A reporter approached them and asked, "Jc! Can we have a few words to go along with our red carpet interviews?"

"Sure," Jc answered, but the man shoved a microphone in his hands before he had even finished.

"We're back on the red carpet with Nsync member Jc Chasez. Now you guys are up for two awards tonight. How do you feel?" the reporter said. Jc looked puzzled.

"I didn't even know we were nominated," Jc said. "I think it's great just to be here and to have fun."

"And will you introduce us to the lovely lady," he asked.

"Oh sure! This is Anna Mitchell, and she just got signed onto Jive records," Jc said. "She'll be nominated one of these days." Anna blushed at his comment and turned to see the reporters cameras bearing down on her. Great...the first shot of me on tv and I'm blushing. The reporter added, "How long have you two been dating?"

Anna stared at him in shock, but Jc just answered smoothly, "We don't date, we're just really close." The reporter gave a sigh of disapointment. He turned back to the cameras and gave his closing statement. They finished their interview and made their way inside. "Don't be so nervous," Jc whispered to her. "Lighten up! We came to have a good time!" Anna nodded her head and followed him into the show room.

They found their seats and watched each performance like good spectators. They clapped and laughed with the rest of the crowd. Beyonce Knowles walked on stage and stood at the clear podium in the front of the stage. After the crowd had stopped clapping, Beyonce leaned into the microphone and started her speech.

"Pop is one of the most contriversial music genres of all times. This year has been no different. From top selling boy bands, to sexy newcoming divas, to a man that's been around long enough to give everyone pointers, these four artists have definetly hit the charts this year...hard. They are..." She said each performer's name as their videos scrolled across the screen. "Britney Spears...Sting...Backstreet Boys...Nsync."

Anna grabbed Jc's hand and clutched it as tight as she could. He laughed and whispered, "It's ok. If we win then we win. If we don't then we don't it's no big deal." Beyonce ripped open the envelope, while Anna whispered to herself, "Please let them win...please let them win...please let them win..."

"Hey! The winner of pop album of the year is...Nsync!" Beyonce yelled. Anna jumped from her seat and cheered with excitement. Jc stood slowly and turned to walk down the aisle. Anna jumped with excitement as he made his way up to the podium, not realizing that she was right behind him as he walked towards the stage. He waited until she was beside him and wrapped his arm over her shoulder. They walked up to the podium and gave Beyonce a quick hug.

"Wow...umm...this is great. I honestly didn't expect to win, but I wanna thank Johnny Wright, four of the greatest guys on earth, Justin, Lance, Chris, and Joey, umm.....my mom, my dad, and..." he turned and pointed towards Anna. "Anna, thanks for making this trip worth while. Thanks to the fans. I'll see you guys on tour!" He turned and walked off stage behind Anna.

Once they were off stage, Jc leaned towards and Anna and said, "You wanna get out of here." She looked at him and nodded. They walked out of the backstage area hand in hand, while Jc smiled in his own thoughts. This is it...no turning back...

Chapter 21

By the time they had returned to the bus, it was dark outside. They stepped out of the SUV and walked up to the bus. The door was closed and all of the lights out. "The guys must have already gone out," Anna guessed. Jc dug into his pocket to get his key to open the bus. Lonnie drove away as Jc said, "SHIT...I don't have the key."

Anna sighed and looked around. "Does anyone around here you know have one? Like security?"

Jc shook his head. "Lonnie is the only other guy with a key and I don't have my cell phone to call him with. We'll just have to chill around out here until somebody comes back."

Anna looked around to survey thier surroundings. She noticed a ladder on the back of the bus and pointed over to it. "Wanna step on the wild side?" she asked. Jc laughed at her idea of "the wild side". He nodded and followed her as she ran to the ladder, climbed to the top, and jumped onto the top of the bus. She walked to the edge of the bus and sat down, as Jc reached the top of the ladder.

"This isn't as high as I thought it would be," Anna said, before Jc sat down beside her. "I mean I thought it would be all romantic and you would get to look out over the city. I can't even see the top of that building," Anna said, pointing to the arena at the right of the bus. Jc laughed.

"It's a bus, not a skyscaper, Anna," he retorted. He looked at her as she gazed out at the streets. The light fell on her in the right way, making her hair sparkle with her eyes. Then she said, "What are you thinking?" She looked away from the streets and into his eyes. He didn't know how to answer her question, so all he could say was...

"What?"

"I can read people," she answered. "I've always been able to look at someone and tell what was going on with them and what they were thinking. I can read you, but there's something going on right now I can't read. What are you thinking?" Jc looked her in the eyes. He could never get anything past her. She always caught on. That was going to make expressing his feelings a lot easier.

"I was just thinking how beautiful you are," he said. He never looked away from her eyes. She smiled and looked back at the streets. "Good answer," she laughed.

"Who said is was just an answer? Maybe it was a compliment," he said.

She kept her gaze away from him and said, "Jc did I ever tell you how I ended up homeless?" He stared at her in shock. She had never mention this to him before and to bring it up out of the blue was odd, but she had to be going somewhere with it. "No, you didn't," he said. She sighed and went into her explanation.

"When I was eleven, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I spent most of my time after school at the hospital with her. My dad didn't take it to well to say the least and when my mom died, he wasn't the same. He got another girlfriend and I was always in the way. So, they kicked me out, just like that. Anyways, I was walking down the streets one night and I ran into Lou. Not many places hire an eleven year old, so he told me he would let me work at the Coffee Crib for a small pay check until I found something better. Well...I was a horrible waitress, to put it nicely. I spilled people's drinks and messed up thier orders, but I made friends with one of the performers there named Andy. He tought me how to play the guitar and let me borrow a few books, school related, to learn from. Lou found out he had been teaching me how to play and got mad...until he heard me sing. He hired me as a performer the next day. Well a few years later, when I was sixteen, the cafe got robbed and Andy died from a gunshot wound to the chest." She took a breath and looked at Jc. He was listening silently to her story. She continued, "The point I'm trying to make is...I've lost everyone that ever meant anything to me in my life. My mom died, my dad deserted me, and Andy died. I care about you Jc, but I can't stand the thought of getting hurt by you. I can't loose you too. So whatever you say to me, or whatever you think about when you think of me, don't. Not unless you mean it."

Jc sat speechless. She knew. He didn't even have to say anything. He looked at her as she stood up and said, "How did you..."

"Like I said, I can read you," she answered. She turned and climbed back to the ground. He stood and followed her down the ladder. He jumped down from the middle and grabbed her arm. She turned to faced him. There was a few seconds of silence as he walked closer to her. "If you can read me then I don't have to tell you that I care about you. I shouldn't have to tell you how happy you make me and I don't need to say that you complete me, do I?" She stared at him as he pulled her into the shadows of the bus. She pulled away from his grip on her arm and leaned against the back of the bus.

"I know. I care about you to, but you don't understand. Everyone I've gotten
close to has left me or been taken away from me. I don't want you to leave too," she said. He moved closer to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. She shivered as his touch sent a shock through her body.

"I'm not gonna leave you," he said. "Because I love you." She looked at her feet so he couldn't see her eyes water. He pushed her chin back up with his hand and whispered, "I mean every word, from the bottom of my heart." He leaned his head against hers as she whispered, "Don't you think it's a little soon to say that we love each other." Jc laughed softly and pulled away, keeping his arms on her waist.

"Not if you mean it," he said. She looked in his eyes, seeing his sincerity. He truly meant every word he said. He wouldn't hurt her in his wildest dreams. Every fear she ever had was pushed aside. She said, "I love you, too."

He put his hand on her face and wiped a tear off of her cheek with his thumb. They leaned towards each other until they were almost a breath away. He hesitated before moving forward and letting his lips softly meet with hers. Time stood still as they shared their first kiss.

Jc pulled away from her and stared into her eyes. He laughed to himself and said, "God I really don't want to hear Justin say 'I told you so'." Anna laughed with him and replied, "Well, we can split up already. Then you won't have to hear him whine."

Jc acted like he considered the thought, but shook his head. "Nah...he wouldn't get over himself even if we did."

Chapter 22

(One week later)
After the best concert of the tour, everyone was ready for some rest. Jc ran off stage in front of the rest of the guys, and was the first to board the bus. Justin, Joey, Lance, and Chris boarded a few seconds later. Jc ran to the back of the bus where Anna was already waiting for him. She stood and greeted him with a kiss on the cheek. "That was an awesome, awesome show," she said.

Still breathing heavily, Jc threw himself on the couch. She sat down, while Jc moved his head to her lap. She ran her fingers through his short hair and said sarcastically, "Will you have any trouble sleeping tonight?"

"Do I ever?" he replied, while the door burst open and the slower members of the group entered. They threw themselves down around the pair and stared. None of them were used to seeing Jc so close to someone, so to see him being pampered by Anna was an odd site indeed. "Will you guys try a little harder to show your affection? I don't think it's clear enough yet," Justin said. Anna laughed and retored, "You wouldn't be pouting if a certain pop star was here, now would you?"

"He wouldn't, because he'd be too busy having his hands all over her," Lance answered for Justin. There was soon a wrestling match between the two of them, which Joey and Chris egged on. Jc and Anna laughed along with everyone else. When the fun had died down, their energy went with it. Everyone one was soon in the bunks, leaving Justin, Anna, and Jc alone. Jc was fast asleep in her lap. She laughed at the pitiful site of him asleep on her.

"He's hopeless," she said out loud to Justin.

"You know I never got a chance to tell him 'I told you so'. I told him, from the day I met you that you two were gonna end up together," Justin pointed out. Anna shook her head quickly.

"I don't think that would be the best thing for you to do. He might break up with me," she laughed. Justin gave her a look of astonishment, which made her laugh even harder. "Don't worry about it. I was just kidding. It's an inside things between me and Prince Charming here."

"Do you have to call him that? It's makes me want to puke," he said, faking a gag.

"Would you rather me call him snookie wookie," Anna said. Justin stood and walked towards the bunkroom, shaking his head.

Anna looked at the man in her lap. She couldn't help but think how perfect he was when he slept. Almost more so than when he was awake. She played with his hair and looked out of the window. The bus was back on the highway, headed for the next destination in the tour, which made Anna wonder. 'Where would this road lead her?' She was ready for the ride. Whatever else life threw at her, she knew she could take it as long as she had her new friends at her side. The rides she anticipated the most, were her career with Johnny and Jive Records and her relationship with the greatest guy in the world. If this was as good as it got, then she just couldn't see how life could get any better. Unless there was a way to make perfection perfect.
